RDA's have become like an unending game of late-stage monopoly.

I thought we agreed this discussion should not be reward-centric and touch more on the fact that there is high reward content in the game that makes less established, not even necessarily new, players feel like they are on the outside looking in?

And again, I thought we were taking into consideration the origin of RDAs and what they have become after a mountain of changes made to them since their inception?

Yes we get that there are other ways to obtain powerscrolls and relics. But we also get that there's little left in the world to go out an find and make an adventure out of.

Almost every other means of obtaining nice drops are fixed in static locations. Hello, grief city. At least RDAs used to give you the hope that maybe you aren't gonna get shit on by some sadsack out to take from others and never give. Used to being the key words.

There are too many shitheads to ignore. Adding truly randomized content gives an outlet.

Not a big fan of adding randomized content, allowing that content to become a fixture on the server, then making it anything but.

Fill the void that was created by bastardizing RDAs pls, then we can have something for everyone.

Can we all agree that two mill gold isn't SUPER hard to come by, Provo archer can do it in a few weeks, well once you've obtained it by the Gem, buy the upgrade that tells you when rdas are up, and your fking golden [emoji108] how much do you have to hold a newbs hand, Christ I spent months and months just farming Titans in the desert when I first found UO, think anyone tried to get me involved in the end game shit in two weeks? Hell no and hats how it should be, earn your stripes, then finding rdas/doing champs becomes viable.

Finding them isn't the problem. It's getting a chance to play one before this arrives:

Again, werkt has put together an awesome machine for these things. No one should take what they're good at getting away from them. The solution to the monopoly doesn't have to involve making RDAs newb-accessible. It only needs to modify things such that players can expect a reasonably good chance to play out their RDA without another group quickly playing it out for them.

You really glossed over the point. Again...not really concerned with other means of making money, of which there are many.

Nor is this about demanding that newbs be able to participate in RDAs in their current state. That ship has sailed lol.

This is content that has been brutalized by changes. Instead of fucking shit up any more with them I actually would like to see the madness stop. The content is fine for larger groups. Leave it alone but put something back in place where a small group of lesser established players don't feel like fucking idiots if they stumble upon some cool random encounter that has potential to earn them coin at the same time.

What is your suggestion then? More rdas? Dungeons with a limited player amount? I'm not sure what you're shooting for

How would you redesign them then? There is much naysaying and not many suggestions going on, tamers are a good way of clearing rdas, why should we not be able to use ours?

Or just at all. Back in the day you used to be able to provoke the spawn (but only at 120) and to be perfectly honest the layouts of the RDAs is garbage. Getting your foot in the door has got to be so hard for an inexperienced player. That alone has been enough to deter many a newb in the past. I have talked to many.

But man...to find an RDA, get excited, get stomped at the door fives times before getting a foothold, finally get cranking on the spawn/boss and have a group of ten tamers roll in and crush it in five minutes...man that would suck ass lol.

Well these are not meant to be soloed, and as long as you have 3 people any of these are possible, and you have a huge chance of finishing it before another guild finds it, and you don't even need a tamer, someone with a defense talinfor tanking and a few other dexxers would work just fine. If that's how you wanna do it, DO IT. We have our method and it also werks

I shouldn't have to say anything more than more content is needed to fill the void tbh. But I have. I have many times. And for a long time too. I've been in contact with staff regarding RDAs since the beginning. I'm not sure why either...my voice isn't heard.

Actually that brings up a good point. If fucking everything I have said has been in one ear and out the other why do I even still give a shit? Have your broken fucking systems and huge wealth gaps. Have players flake out because the barrier to entry for content is too high in a server that was built on the idea of low barrier to entry because it's 2016. I don't care anymore.

I'm a wealthy and established player advocating for the little guys to have something fun and rewarding geared for them and I have been made to not care. Good job.

Fuck my life.

I definitely didn't say that you shouldn't. In fact, I stated (as I have several times in this thread) that the werkt machine shouldn't be damaged because its good at what it does.

How would you redesign them then?

I'd implement a finder's keepers rule. First one into the gate gets to decide whether people outside your alliance/guild may enter. The players have a certain amount of time to complete the RDA, after which, they're booted and the RDA respawns somewhere else.

I wouldn't even mind this, except maybe instead of booting everyone and respawning it just makes it open to everyone after the allotted time

Imagine a secondary set of random encounters. The randomness of RDAs of old, the progression style of a champ spawn, with the loot of a treasure chest and a small shot at a talisman relic. Doable by small groups or less experienced players. Wouldn't be changing much about the game dramatically and would serve as a nice stop gap.

Or don't. That's fine too.

How about to spend 2 hours at a champ spawn only to get raided at the very end and die right before the boss is down. It's UO man, it sucks sometimes, but that's why we love it.

The system is not broken. You keep whining about something that is completely open for anyone to enjoy. The RDAs do not need to be low barrier to entry...they are end game content. There are already plenty of ways to play this game and acquire relics and other goods that have MUCH lower barrier to entry. Why do you have such a hard on for whining about RDAs only? Why not IDOCs or Champ Spawns? They are just as "monopolized' as RDAs if not moreso.

I don't see a single solid argument against having more content. All I see are "it's fine" kinda talk and a lot of avoidance of the discussion about how things have gotten so twisted in the past couple years.

WORKING AS INTENDED. NOTHING TO SEE HERE.

The RDA system isn't broken. It's just stupid. In this quest of failure players and groups that once had a shot at these things have found themselves on the sidelines because of a progression of changes geared for large groups. That's the biggest glaring flaw to me.

Here's an easily digestible summary to maybe take focus away from the wrong parts of the discussion: small group activity that is a healthy helping of PvM content on this server becomes large group activity. Nothing put in its stead. Needs backfill.

Thoughts?

system is broken. People call relics and eggs ''endgame'' items but in reality they're more essential than they are endgame. It's broken because essential items are not accessible.
