I understand PK'ers are part of the game, and they do make it interesting. But there are some folks that play here that just can't stand to see anyone having a good time. When I am out collecting resources with my carpenter or tailor and a red comes, I try to run. If he gets me, I usually congratulate them on a good kill. A lot of them will rez you and talk with you. I will generally let them loot me while we talk.

But those sick individuals that aren't happy with that really concern me. Again, I am not talking about real PvP'ers. It is those that pick on the miners, lumberjacks, skinners, etc., and do so just to because they want to make others unhappy.

They turn around and kill your pets, for what reason I don't know, other than to make the game harder for us non PvP'ers. They follow you to the healer and continue to kill you when you rez, why I don't know, because I am certainly not reporting them. How can killing me over and over be fun? It is more indicative of a personality disorder. These are the sick people that set fire to kittens. They are angry, frustrated and bitter little people and want to make everyone else as miserable as them.


What is wrong with these people, and am I the only one that sees that this is indicative of a personality disorder?

You see, this is not just about crafter's who get harassed like this but this follows WAY up to the top of food chain. While you are getting murdered constantly *and not taking the initiative to move to a safer area*, other so called top end players are getting their stuff jacked by thieves and other shady types and complaining about how stealing is over-powered. Reading this thread provides insight to the double standards which is disregarded throughout this discussion.

There is nothing to fix *apart from heavily, over-used scripting* and you are not playing a game where everyone could be considered your 'next best buddy', you are playing a game which is harsh, unforgiving and has a player base which will remind you why that innocent looking tree you were selfishly hacking at, also has feelings and has its defenders. Consider your attacker, your murderer, a member of Greenpeace and they will do all in their power to make sure the environment remains safe..

I happen to think every religion is wrong. Religion is a tool made to control masses, and works well from ancient times. Existence of God was never proven, however ability to wage wars and commit atrocities was. All that while gaining much wealth and power. As my favourite motto goes:

Saying that these people would not behave rudely in real life is specious, in that I play the game in real life. They are the same people talking on their cell phone in a movie theater. I play this game in my real life. I am trying to accomplish something. Someone comes along and interferes with my efforts is interfering in my real life. You can't excuse it because of the anonymity.

Don't get me wrong. I understand PK'ing is part of the game. I can appreciate a good PK'er getting me. They are not the problem. It is the little punks that run around being as big an asshole that they can be because it satisfies some desire they have. It is a short ay to acting out these desires in the world, because they find doing it in a game is not enough. You look at these mass shooters, Aurora, Sandy Hook, etc., and you will find they all were involved in violent computer games. To ignore the behavior of sociopathic personalities in our games is what leads to these tragedies.

I personally believe that violent computer games, and UO fits in that category, greatly contributes to the violence in our society. Common decency has gone by the boards because you can be rude in these games, so why not be rude to people in the outside world?

Let me just finish by saying these rez killers are the same people that will fart in an elevator because they think it is funny. They never stop to think what it says about them.

If every ganking res killing shit talking player is a craven sociopath, then I get to assert that every person who makes a post complaining about dying in a video game is a ***** made ***** who has spent 15+ years playing a game and still not figured out how not to die.

They are mentally and emotionally weak, and probably have mommy/daddy issues based on how they can't solve anything on their own, instead crying to authority figures.

They are probably impotent and pathetic virgins, because they act the same way in real life and no one wants to be with someone who is not man/woman enough to stand up to a treat without tucking tail and running to cry about it.

They are borderline ********, since they can't figure out how (it's actually really fucking easy) to survive in this old ass game.

I could go on and on like this.

Or you could just realize that you are wrong, and that people play fantasy games to get away from real life. A loving and responsible husband and father of two can think it is entertaining to kill and steal on a video game without actually being a sociopath. You sound absolutely ridiculous to anyone with even a rudimentary understanding of psychology/sociology.

AND FOR THE RECORD: farting in an elevator is fucking hilarious. I have ripped ass as loudly as possible in elevators full of strangers and every single time everyone cracks up, regardless of age or gender. Sorry your sense of humor is shite.

Nah, just had to answer it :) OP sounds like one of those Angry Mothers. Violence in games make people go on shooting spree etc bullshit..

How can someone call UO violent? If you think UO is violent then go play Manhunt. That is violent game.
It was people like him that brought trammel upon our free world, and destroyed every inch of fun one could've had. People that always crawl to play in tough environment yet cannot bear the consequences.

As much as i hate when these posts stay on topic this long and remain somewhat civil and intelligent, I have to agree with Karl here. @Tuabain by your logic anyone who even buys GTA or any other violent game is a psychopath, and thats simply not true. I would never steal a cop car, find a hooker, pay her for head, then beat her to death with a crowbar and rob her corpse for my money back. Crowbars are expensive and heavy, who has that kind of stamina??

I don't think there's anything wrong with people believing in something. I think where I would have a problem with Mormonism is that it was founded by a known and convicted fraud, Joseph Smith. But, again, if you believe in it then you believe in it. I get the idea, but it's that unsettling part that makes me question it.

Assuming it's true tho, I don't know it's such a great thing. I mean it sounds awesome at the outset, but then after you've godded over your world for a dozen or so millenia you're bound to get bored and look to the rest of the stars pondering how you could rule them too.

And even if you do manage to take over the Milky Way Darth Vader style, you'll still be like "Why am I stuck with this one single stupid galaxy? I want the UNIVERSE, mfkr!" :mad:

There'll just be no end to it is what I'm saying.

I just don't think it is normal for people to go out of their way to annoy others. I understand it is part of the game, but it isn't normal.

I think the internet has made many people lose their common decency. I just don't understand people that want to be assholes. Wanting to be an asshole is not normal.

Of course, now a days, there seems to be quite a wide swath allowed for what is normal.
