its just what YOU guys think faction is but Faction is like everything else in UO its just a tool and its up to you to do what YOU want.

You guys need asap stop to think your playstyle is the only one that should be promoted. UO is a fucking sandbox game everyone does what him fits and its probably the best part of this server compare to all other server out there that we have here such a huge amount of diffrent playstyles (thats why this server is such a success).

All roads lead to PVP in one way or another.

Obviously that would be the main focus of promotion. It's kind of like when a year ago we went through the whole incentive ideas for factions, and Adam added some cool stuff that no one gave a shit about.

Then you had this little minority group of players complaining they hated factions, and they wanted Order/Chaos because they didn't really want to PVP.

Guess how many players (non-faction) joined Order/Chaos?

My entire point within this thread is to discredit all the ideas suggested towards making incentives to joining factions. Awesome to see someone make a home for newer players, or people not interested in the competitive aspect. The incentive to joining factions should be the PVP. All the other ideas for shiney shit, or whatever is dumb because that's already been done and little to no one cared.

Either join factions with Keith and do other things, or join for the PVP. That's the only way this thing works.
 
Everyone is missing the point. You can win at factions without every member of the faction involved in PvP. Yes, someone will have to fight but a guild like mine still serves a purpose. Look at Shadowlords, they own every town. Does that mean that every other member of every other factions is bad at PvP? Not at all, it just means they are bad at factions.

Ill make this simple. Our incentive is controlling towns as a faction. Our role is to do it with all classes, not just stun mages and alche dexxers. Our goal is to recruit people who are afraid to join factions because they think the only viable templates are alche dexxers and stun mages. Our method is to play like we normally do, in a dungeon farming silver and gold and not look for fights but defend when we need to. We'll contribute by disarming traps, placing traps, putting blessed weapons into the faction mix etc.

If you wanna join, join. If you wanna fight, fight. If you you're a PvM guild who likes the idea but hates me, join an opposing faction. If you hate the idea that factions isn't 100% about PvP, watch us fail.

We're Shadowlords. We have every town. I'm not saying we're even partially responsible for that but we intend to keep it that way. Give us a challenge and undo that instead of flaming each other on the forums or fighting on a bridge.

That's one of the problems tho. Owning a town means literally zero here. Warhorses are no use on a server with infinite stamina, no bola's or ethy fatigue. If we want regs/bottles we go capture one town and buy it out then forget about it. Capping sigils and defending bases should be like an event everyone goes to, people just need encouragement to do so. Some sort of points system for attacking/defending bases should be introduced. Even nooby guilds could have fun boxing themselves into a base with archers and defending it, or rushing one with tamers and warriors.

That's one of the problems tho. Owning a town means literally zero here. Warhorses are no use on a server with infinite stamina, no bola's or ethy fatigue. If we want regs/bottles we go capture one town and buy it out then forget about it. I think they should stop focusing so much on new expansions, and put an entire expansion into really addressing the combat mechanics on this server. There's a lot of things that just don't work. Adam meddled with it before, but never really went full bore. It's hard to do by himself no doubt, but I think they should really look at it all from the ground up. Spell damage is off here, timers are off and they've dumbed it down to the point that things like (warhorses) serve no purpose and it doesn't matter if you get one or not. Shane has some type of vision that he can't seem to see past. None of us want unlimited bolas, or lightning wand syncs but they are fun to a certain extent. Look at what happened to PVP tamers when I ran around on one the first few months of the server. Why can't the nightmare mechanics be fixed to where it's not broken, and just let people play fun templates. Why did the entire template just have to be nerfed into the ground and be unplayable?

We do not at this time. Mostly the reason was to protect our noncombative citizens as we have people of all play styles.

this, so much. Nerfing something to the ground is never the solution. Bolas and Wands would have never been much of an issue on that other Shard if they weren't so widely available due to Staff being corrupt etc. I though doubt that we will ever see any ground-breaking chances to UOF's PVP mechanics - the bluebies would not understand them, and cry even before the Patch is applied.

And just look at Tamers on UOF. They added a remount timer to pets in hope to stop Tamer PVP, nerfed about 50 legit tactics by doing so, and introduced a completely broken all guard me system that has actually worsened the issue, if anything.

Well many things need a fix, but please no wands.

mixed feelings on bolas, they are lame but then again everyone is gm runner on this server
