I as well as many others would like to get a butler due to its incredibly opportunity to advance pvp capabilities in reference to speed. This gives a clear advantage to anyone who has access to it. Having said this, they cost 25k donation coins which is a crazy 4.5 mill. Very few people can reasonably afford this, especially pvpers. It seems unfair to give a distinct pvp advantage to certain pvpers just because they are rich as hell and have all day to play UO. Thoughts? If you agree please support this thread! Would like to see a price reduction!

I would like to see them at 5000 Donation coins. Still a higher teir item not everyone can afford... But I feel that the more of these out there the more the player-vendor economy will benefit. Right now its fairly dead. Imagine all the new armor, weapon, keg, and reg vendors that would be flourishing if a good amount of active players were able to afford a butler.

Heres the key, its an item that greatly changes gameplay.... unlike other items considered to be luxury items.... you want a super cool rare shiny bone mask that costs 50k dono... ok cool. it a wearable rare so you can show how much UO value you have. neat..... this is an item that provides an advantage and utility.... and furthermore has no flash or dash.... its just utility... why would it cost so much? is it only for the ppl with too much time on their hands?

first off.. there is no pvp advantage with this. it saves MAX 1 minute..
dont act like you have one pvp char stocked at all times, and if you do.. youre an idiot.

but 5k coins? really? that is kinda undercutting it, dont you think?
MAYBE 10-15.. but 5?

it's not a "luxury" item at 5k coins.. that's less than a mask or sandals.

Yeah i don't know, i think it's insanely crazy how some certain few vocal minority people are complaining about the price of it when it's been a good seller.

I think many people underestimate the serious large amount of our player base that don't even post on these forums and report their personal opinions but play, have fun and are grateful.

We didn't take any shit from people over a wearables worth this much, or more...

This is a simple luxury, that was well thought out and developed over time.

I use to pvp a lot, and one of my MAIN reasons, and anyone in my previous guilds reasons for logging off was because they simply were just too lazy to restock. Even with the restock agents available in razor etc, it's just a hassle and leans you more-so towards clicking that X at the top right corner.

The Butler was the entire thought process and reasoning to make restocking easier. IT IS NOT meant or designed to hold all your resources and free up space, that's just a bonus. It is designed around the entire idea of making your life easier if you die and lose your gear.

Most hardcore pvpers will see the value in this, i'm not sure what NON pvpers see in this really, it was not built in that mindset.

This item is worth MORE than what it's put on there as, it frees up house space, saves you time, and organizes shit for you.

In the end, 4.5 mill for such an item is a GOOD deal for someone that has played here for a long, long time regardless of if they donated or not.

If you don't think it's worth it, it just means you don't see it's ideal purpose, and that is what it's about. It appeals to a certain play style, simple as that.

Sorry, I was looking for the publics opinion, and last time I paged privately about such a thing I was told to post on forums and not page about things like this, because if I wanted real change I should seek the publics acceptance. This response seemed like you do not appreciate me taking the steps that your council suggested in order to bring up changes I thought pertinent. I will host no further opinions in leu of being told that I'm merely "reporting my personal opinions" and am "ungrateful".

Prices on the dono vendor are ridiculous lately, plain and simple. I've donated a lot to the server, love the server, love the staff but it's hard to justify that large of donations on a consistent basis. Especially during a month like December, which is an expensive month already for most people.

I fully support the idea of a 5k dono price idea.

All that being said, I think that an additional solution for this particular item is to also have it available on the gold sync vendor. If it's supposed to be "end-game" it should be there anyways.

.

for 25000 don coins is what, 185$? 185 dollars? For an item in UO? I don't understand how that can be a real statement. It is a fun game and all, but
I wish we had better ways to support the server so items wouldn't have to be dangled in front of people with such a high price tag, Why would it only be for pvp people though? Anyone that dies has to restock, be it to a pk in pvp, or a cow in the Brit cornfields, if you don't have get your corpse then its back to restock. Or like doing the champ thing tonight. Seems like something that would take away that tedious, outdated, time sink of restocking, that you say yourself makes many people hit the little x, should be more ready available. Seems like a really really cool item that can only add to the fun of the game!.Again, lol at how absurd spending 180$ on some silly trivial item for UO is in real life. Feels like I was in the twilight zone after reading that post.

When Shane says, "We didn't take any shit from people over a wearables worth this much, or more..." I have to agree

Most of the people that would be talking about this are people who donate. In otherwords, we support the server voluntarily and make all this possible, and we get hostility? Lol if had a server the last thing I would ever do was give an attitude to people that donate hard earned money to make the server possible. Again, twilight zone.

Micro management is crucial in todays PvP. This type of item should not be cheap, like item bless deeds. should be a rarity. I feel like staff only has game balance in mind when they made the price, and as they say, it's proven reasonable by the amount of buyers.

So are you telling me that it's pretty common for people to pay around 185$ irl just so they can restock faster ? ... X___X
How about you just try to die a bit less instead.

I find this a bit hard to believe but if it's actually the case , that's pretty insane.

wreckognize, half the people who play UO play 15 hours a day and spend 10 of those hours farming... for ppl with better things to do, this is not feasible... so its great that 25% of the shard can afford it easily, but they are also unemployed and gain the majority of their self worth and pride from a video game, *sigh* BUT , having said this, to defend your stance, I agree that it needs to be micromanaged, BUT needs to have a level playing field, so I think either everyone should be able to get one, or nobody should be able to get one... not just the rich people who play constantly

First off I have to say this shard is amazing, you do an incredible job. I appreciate the time spent creating items like these which are the only things I buy from the dono/gold vendors. Things like the butler, trappable pouch and t-map book as soon as I see or hear about I want. I am though amazed at the defensiveness of your post. The guy was just voicing his opinion. Many players who arent vocal think its too expensive too it really isnt the minority. Nobody complains about expensive clothing because they are a choice that dont change any game mechanics or benefit anybody, they just say "hey look at my expensive clothes, Im rich". The butler is a utility that changes how the game works to a certain extent. You say you dont want people hitting the X when they die but by being so expensive it only reduces the mega rich players who wont push X when they die. I can and will manage without it as I and everyone else has done for years before the butler arrived and I do understand it would be unfair to reduce the price now after people have already purchased the item. Me personally I would never pay that much, I would love it but will never buy it at that price. Anyways, keep up the good work, this really is the best shard ever regardless of a tiny issue like this.

do you guys even realize that you can do the exact same thing with razor?
literally, i walk up to my storage bag and hit one button
*BAM* backpack full of whatever I want. Anything.
So you see, the butler doesn't help anyone PvPwise except newbies who don't already know how to use restock agents etc. It's not a PvP advantage at all.

BUT that said I think that they should have to pay for having the luxury of skipping those steps in learning how to micro manage.

By the way a price reduction would not be fair to previous buyers. I really am not seeing enough reason to screw over the players who have already purchased this.

@OP If you really want changes, you have to use the right format for your suggestion. Try posting in the suggestion forum next time. Put down your change request, the reason why you think it should be done and any possible drawbacks. That way you'll have the best chance to see change in the future. In this case you didn't even post the most obvious drawback and posted in general discussion, so not surprising that you haven't gotten the responses you were looking for.
