So how is it?

Heal potions have a cooldown whereas purple ones have none/time to throw them. Also they heal for less than what you are being hit for.

Not taking in to account any skills:

Healpot can heal up to 30 hp every 10 sec.
Explo pot can deal up to 15 dmg every 5~ sec.

If you bring in alchemy i think it's more fair to compare it to bandages.

Bandages can heal up to 40~ dmg every 9~ sec
Explo pots deal up to 25 dmg every 5~ sec.

Numbers might be slightly off but its pretty close imo.

Combine bandages and pots together and you are practically immortal as long as you can run.

Funny thing is this scrub is admittedly playing a dexer, how the fuck do you die to someone throwing pots if you are mounted and have healing/bandages???? Add in gheal pots and you have to try really hard just to get below 50% life

Regardless of how much of the exp pot is mitigated or not, GHeal pots are still the counter to them - they heal 100% of the time where exp pots don't hit 100%.

Let's assume you cannot run worth shit, your opponent is a robot and hits you 100% of the time, then if you add in other things like @drasked here stated like healing, or the ability to spread out the splash damage, exp pots are more than countered in many ways.

Meh. You guys will fight tooth and nail for the NEED of explosion potions. It's definitely just a uof thing. Maybe uoforever or something. Don't know. Never played it. But official servers have more complex and interactive pvp. Again I just really dislike trammel.

So ya I would get rocked by most people on this server. I don't have the same play time. But most times I die it's to getting jumped by a group of pks. Which doesn't bother me. Just not as impressive as some of may feel. Which is all good. Do you.

Also @Darkarna miss ya bud. ;) ;) ;)

I think you missed a good 14 years of free shards with these mechanics.... UOF is not the creator of them.

I have never once healed with a yellow pot for 30hp, that is a stretch. 25hp if you are lucky.

Not trying to split hairs or get off topic though.

Continue on with the denial/stubbornness/ignorance everyone and let's not forget

The narcissism.

Ok meat head. How's yur reading comprehension? I didnt claim to be pissed about dieing, nor do i die often to this shit. Very seldom do i get owned unless i just say fuck it and stick around and get p-poted to death eventually. But i put the run on you shitheads often enough without purple pots or gimp tactics and scripty shit. They are gimp shit and so were most of those free servers you played on. I played alot of em to. 99% of em were a joke and are now dead because of that shit lol.

Fair enough @GoD PaRtiCal I have only done one other free shard years ago.

Anyways. Y'all have a nice day. I'm not here to fight just express my opinion based off my experiences and knowledge. Cheers all.

You are writing whine essays about a pvp system you self-admittedly dont care about. And ontop of that you are bad at UO. If that is what you define as having a life then ill pass.

The PvP system i dont care about is rolling around in yur mob groups marathon chasing each other back in forth. Purple pots and sallos are just fine and dandy for that. Couldnt give two shits what ya do in yur organized PvP/militia/factions. I love defensive PvP against reds/pks in dungeons. I was just simply stating purple pots have become over powered in the pk/dungeon scenario and it would be nice to compete without using the same cookie cutter build scripty bullshit alot of you guys use or having p-pots an necessity to use. PvM builds and play style should still be able to defend against attack without having to go all hardcore PvP training, gearing, scripts, crutches.......................

Somehow so many of you blow this shit outa proportion and twist peoples words. And we end up where we at now.

Another suggestion would be to increase the timer on p-pots in dungeons only. Or reduce gheal cooldown.

Fighting one p-pot pk isn't to bad but you get two and they sync dump + p pots. Its insta death. Sweet fuck all ya can do if you didnt get yur recall off and good luck getting them off yur ass with all the performance mods the turds use. Tree hack, sallos, and so on. Yeah im aware i can use them to but they make the game look like shit. As most non hardcore pvpers would agree.

Your just scared cause you wont be able to kill players as easily. I mean shits second nature to you guys right. Time to up the difficulty.

Waaaaa! if you change explo pots players might escape and i cant kill them as easy! waaaaaa!

Jesus... the neck beard.... "but I'm a nice guy"

How about giving GM archers a %chance to attach a Ppot to an arrow if they are in the backpack?

Rambo exploding arrows! Last i checked they were the only class that can't throw pots with the bow in hand? But have changed though... be a nice boost to the low damage arrows, whizzing shots and having to stand like a lemon as you get a shot off :p

That would be epic and I am all for that idea...

Nobody would waste 100 skill points to defend against pks with purple pots. People would have to crimp their character, they'd be better off learning not to suck at this game
yea i agree...im just saying having parry could deflect them..and its up to u or whoever else to feel if they wanna add parry to help defend against pots. i get potted all the time and it does get annoying but its usually not what kills me...4 people do lol. but just like most templates in this game, there is a counter for it. adding in parry would make someone decide if dropping magery for it would be worth it to them. obviously parry against a mage does nothing... just like an alchy nox dexxor against a mage usually is dominate. not one template can dominate in every aspect of the game

Sephid is dead on correct here and the ones that say otherwise are just in denial because they know they need that purple crutch to be successful.

It is a shame though, the threat of being pked at any moment is what makes this game so great but the fact that you need to constantly toss purple pots to win at pvp just funnels every pvp build into having alchemy. Thus, leaving less room for any diversity.

I will stand my ground and fight to death at any 1v1 . But, as soon as you see more than one red coming at you... your only option is to recall out as you are guaranteed an insta death with ZERO chance of survival. I remember the days that you still had a chance and could stand your ground when out numbered but those days are long gone. The fact that most admit that you need purple pots to kill some one is all the proof you need to know that something in the mechanics is broken. It's sad as it has made pvp so damn boring!

With that all said, hope you enjoy mindlessly tossing purple pots at one another you just better hope you are carrying more than your opponent. Reminds of that God awful song by Prince..."Purple Rain"

Explode pots are required to kill anyone remotely decent, unless they are stupidly drunk/high (or both) or do a major fail.

I don't partake in the brit no cut marathon sallos 1 button delayed drop type pvp, but rather dungeon fight - in dungeons i see all types of templates.

More than 1 red your only option is to recall?

What a load of shit.

On my pvm tamer (who doesn't have wrestling like sallos marathon mage tamers), i regularly fight 2-4 v 1, depending on the skill level of the pks and actually win a lot of the time. Furthermore this includes fighting alchy dexers (poison, macers, or standard sword/fence) without wrestling as mentioned.... And i use a meta steed (cuz im a pvm god!), meaning i don't get the nightmare 20 hp fireballs either.

Likewise my beserker dexer fights and mauls pks, you just have to be careful and watch your surroundings.

Even still, i barely see any other pks around the place - probably part of it is because the sallos militia guys cant use gh wands if playing a red.

With that all said, hope you enjoy mindlessly tossing purple pots at one another you just better hope you are carrying more than your opponent. Reminds of that God awful song by Prince..."Purple Rain"

Purple potions require more timing than anything else in the game, so rather than "mindlessly tossing", we're actually calculating whilst watching our surroundings/opponents behaviour. But please, keep reassuring yourself that it's mindless, and your precast mage who can't throw potions requires all the skill in the world when dropping last target, ebolt, last target after a large xbow/hally hit.

it's funny that all these kids r crying about explopots and how they're the reason they can't survive when outnumbered.. because whenever I play they're the reason I can actually kill people while I'm outnumbered! and I'm not the only one.. for reference check mothership zeta the best solo PK on server right now (imo)

wow, this is truly the end of UOF when one of the Aussy brothers have turned to a moderator helping new players understand the mechanics of the game LOL

1.5 -2.0 secs is all you need to know. You know it and I know it....and a Hally hit combo takes a lot more timing and luck than tossing purple crutches. It's luck if the hally hit connects(wonder what percentage that is especially if the opponent has gm wrestle). This is a bad example my friend. 1.5-2.0 sec timer guarantees your purple crutch explosion. Spells can be resisted, melee swings aren't guaranteed to land. Again, the fact that you need purple rain to be successful in pvp isn't your fault, it's the games mechanics and the fact that everyone has to use it is all the proof we need
