Donation items getting ridiculous

I understand that we need new donation items that keep the money going into the server. I even understand the neon items. But all of these new items are making the server look quite tacky (quiver, soiled loincloth, boot/mask layering deeds) it's getting a little crazy.

We have people walking around with neon boots, with sandals on top, with bright blaze masks stacked on top of other masks. Not only does layering items look tacky (with the exception of sash layering, which adds to the aesthetic of the game). Most of us didn't play SE or ML for a reason, the items looked glitchy, unpolished, and unprofessional I was hoping UOF would avoid Samurai Empire and Mondain's Legacy graphics just for that reason.

Don't want to sound rude or unappreciative, as I myself have donated quite a lot. But I think if we brain stormed and added new items instead of adding weird colors and layering deeds, we could accomplish much more. Brit bank is starting to look like one of those weird free servers where everyone rides around with crazy hues. I hope that you understand this criticism comes from a good place, I just don't want UOF's brit bank to look like uoforever's WBB.

I think that as time passes, we'll find that these items were a mistake, as I believe they discourage new players upon joining and discourage older players who aren't used to this kind of thing from OSI.

As much as I hate to say it , it is all too true...my very same thoughts....it is awful to log onto Gamers uoforever and see all the Ultra Tackiness and to have to come here has me at a loss for words.

I hoped to never see the Blaze come to this server. I think it is ultra tacky but my GOD , That is one of the main reasons that I no longer bother with uoforever and I do have countless amounts of regs and a private Island but it is so blindlingly bright annoying it is not worth my time.

I just hope someone comes to their senses before this server goes down the candyland bright cartoon garish look. It may be okay for 12 year olds but I think most of us are beyond that stage.

Soiled Diaper really??? really?

I'd have to agree, I'm fairly new to the server and when I first logged on and saw all of the people wearing layers and layers of donation items I was kinda put off. It's definitely a bit hypocritical to call yourself a true OSI server and bringing back the nostalgia of UO and then have all kinds of "rares" from the other expansions in colors that would never be seen. Personally I think anyone wearing that stuff looks like a big "d-bag" and I've called a lot of them out on it in the game. Usually I get the response of a 10 year old back.

The problem is everyone loves the fancy colors and its makes people keep donating when theres new and interesting items and thats how it will keep going I dont blame Shane its the only way to keep dono items interesting

Why are people arguing about taciness lol. Makes this game look bad? Its almost teo decades old lmfao. It came out in a day and age where games didnt give a shit about what they looked like and cared about gameplay and mechanics. I say leave the crap for people to spend money on. If you dont want it then dont buy it. If you dont like looking at it dont go to brit lol. I do however think they need better ideas for dono.

I do tend to stay away from Brit and I like your post.

Colors are one thing. But they layering deeds and items from other expansions take away from the pre-aos nostalgia, which is the reason that a majority of players chose this server.

i like the special items but less ugly hues would be cool. or items have a default hue and you need yet another item to change its color, so not everyone automatically has ugly as fuck ones

ANDOMIN you said this perfect! I agree with you 100% and i think it looks tacky. I played OSI for 5 years, then i tried to go back a few later and saw all the neon crap and decided not to play. I think people will still play if there are no rare customizable items on the donation vendor, but the true fans will start looking elsewhere if UOF starts getting tacky. Thanks for your post, glad someone mentioned it.

If I remember correctly, didn't Shane say a long time ago that this place would not become a neon wonderland like uoforever? Almost halfway there now.

i love neon.

who the fuck cares about how a Shard looks? As long as they dont add pink unicorns that shit rainbows its all good for me. And even that would be kinda amazing somewhere somehow.

-1 OP
you lost me at mask layerers
best item ever

PS osi had neon hair in the 90s so wtf is ur point

PPS I think as time goes on, we will learn to understand how the donations have helped generate all this new and awesome content

Hair is one thing. Triple layered neon masks with double layered neon shoes with a pure white quiver from SE and a neon loincloth though...A little too much.

Welcome, i designed this server TO BE different. Although i enjoyed uoforever for awhile, the sallos, wands, bola tamers, ruined economy, tons of neon items, pedals, etc all ruined it down for me personally, even though i had staffed there and designed one of their websites.. IPY has probably the shakiest leadership i have seen, why people flock around there is really beyond me. If it wasn't for WTFMan it would of never had the population it had once, it could of been something great if done right. UOSA is alright but the dedication to the ERA accuracy really is it's faulter, i don't enjoy cutting bandaids one at time these days, and the pvp is a bit off there- I also staffed there for awhile.

This one?
