Meta Mage dps

I'm going to list some data here as I collect it. Building up my meta mage w/ my newly acquired slayer spell books.

I'm just posting numbers, not my opinion on these numbers. As a comparison, I'll also post some data from my dexxers.

For these tests, my mage has 100 eval/med/magery, 100 str, 100 int, 25 dex. I am not including damage from relics in the first test, I'll add those in as I get them leveled. These are all averages of multiple runs w/ each spell. The slayer book adds an extra 50% damage to the spells.

Slayers should be 100%. At least that is what the UOF Wiki says.

I tested my fey slayer spellbook and it seems to only be about 50% as well though :(

@Adam @eppy

Do you all know if slayer books are supposed to be 50% or 100% extra? I've been testing mine most of this morning and have been seeing an average in the 40-50%.

from staff, a lot of time ago , when they release first silver spellbook probably, they said that 100% like weapons was op and was fine 50% increase

Ya unfortunately it seems the wiki can miss on some big stuff sometimes. Check out meta dragons level 7 is apparently 110 min Taming. I wish I could trust the wiki on such an important fact. Now I've got a powerful dragon with mediocre control.

Even at 100% spell books are still far under powered when looking at the #s next to a slayer weapon. But I'll save my opinions for another thread, trying to use this one just to show the data.

@eppy

what about some

Ring - Necklace - Bracelet with Slayer or Magery damage bonus on Mobs?

Not blessed at all

why this?

1) so mage can compete with other dexxers
2) so when a mage die have some risk and some loot, not just a bag of reags if you wanna use a mage for top pvm
3) some of this new items should be craftables with 105-120 skills and rechargeable, some a new monster loot (not that rare cause in that case no one will use it)

just for the haters, i dont use any kind of mage for pvm , ist just an idea to make more fun , market, and variation to this game and for all players :)

I suspect being blessed is the reason for the difference which makes a lot of sense.
And they were implemented before pvm mages were considered viable, I figured they were more meant to be pixel crack than meant to be useful, just the implementation of mage talisman brought them some more attention.

The 50% is fine as it is, it is still pretty significant. It just seems odd that weapons, which have a much higher dps to begin with get double the bonus.

I don't think pvm mages will ever be balanced here bc of the era. W/out items like faster casting/recovery, lrc, mana regen etc.

I think something like asics is suggesting might help to even the pvm field a bit, if mages had something to add a damage bonus similar to how tactics modifiers work for dexxers. We just don't want to get too AoS here :)

I considered making a uoforever build for my meta mage, and I might play around w/ a swords mage for dps between procs. But I'll have to wait till I level it all to see what can be done w/ that.

Well there is supposed to be a buff to spirit speak that will return mana when pvm and should help us with our mage talismans.

Not sure when it is going in but I've gmed ss in waiting :)
