basicly this is a complaint thread about how ps/relic drops at champ spawns. u cant get a chance to get relic/ps if ur dead exactly when champion is dead, or if you are far away. this is a broken system that just promotes zerg play and creates frustration.

dont get me wrong, i love wars at champs. but u do like 10-20k damage(or more) and work for an hour at champion, then just as boss is dying biggest zerg guild comes and kills the other few players, so that they wont be eligable for ps/relic. this is complete bullshit. if they want to prevent others from getting rewards, they should be working constantly, trying to prevent them from doing damage and getting champ score.

so i think relic/ps should just drop to your bank box, doesnt matter if ur dead or far away when boss dies. this way there will be constant battle to prevent others from getting champ score. people wont just instantly lose an hour of their work and get frustrated.

all ur champ score being deleted, reduced to 0 just because u died at last minute of a 1 hour thing. it doesnt make any sense too.

also even if u get the ps, there are thieves around runing scripts. as soon as one of em gets next to u, ur ps/relic is instantly lost. thief has friends that heal too so forget about killing him and getting ur ps back(this is just a secondary thing though-thread is mainly about things above this)

Try farming Destard and turning in crystals to summon Fafnir the dungeon boss. You have a chance for a relic to go straight to your bank when you contribute.

Otherwise you're gonna have to deal with the same drop system that has been in place foreverrrrr.

If they cared, they would have fixed the mechanics a few years ago...nothing new. I saw a few posts saying the same thing already.

Just need to get with a bigger/better guild or get organized. From what I hear from the veterans, POWER has been doing this for years now. It really sucks, most people spend a few weeks, or months, playing. Then they realize that RDAs and champs are basically a joke unless you are some old time veteran in an established guild. and then they quit. I have spoken to 4 people in just a few weeks that I have been here that were giving up because the champs/rda felt hopeless.

My suggestion would be for there to be some kind of weekly, or twice weekly instance for guilds to do...in EQ2 for example they had instanced AND contested stuff...this being a mostly PVP game it is much difference, but if they could set up something to give guilds their own little instance to do 1 champ, or 1 rda a week or something on weekends...it would go soo far. In a game where you can buy gold with real $ the issue of balance with loot drops is really not there. To get more people to play and enjoy the game means more people investing in donations...but as I said, it has been years and it hasn't changed so doesn't seem likely it ever will.

Designing new stuff to try to get more gold from vet players seems a waste of resources, you have plenty of stuff that's appealing to new players and non bank-sitters. The main thing we learned from EQ(which destroyed UO membership, and made gaming what it is today) is that people like to do organized, large scale events. When an event is a huge zerg clusterfuck mess, people are going to have a bad impression and not want to do that again. When someone spends a lot of time, energy, maybe donates...then they do a few champs, and love it, working together with friends and watching how the champ spawns work...watching scores go up. All good, great experience...then on level 4 or whatever (I have only seen champs from the raiding side so far=P) and the champ is dying and then comes POWER/EQMS/Insert Guild,,, and steal champ...1 min later they are gone with the PS and said people are going to be...

a. happy and satisfied and ready for more uo! I am sure people want to go donate right after getting screwed
b. it was eqms and the casual noobs killed them and now they are the pissed ones (haha happened EVERY TIME I was with EQMS)
c, they are going to be pissed off, and it is going to greatly impact how they look at UOF. I have had people chase me around town raging about how much of a heartless asshole I was for ruining their night, and making people quit the game/guild...personally, the rage was pure bliss for me...but I still see a problem here...anyway that's just my suggestion, what do I know.

Instanced was OK on eq2 because the battles were all out side the instance entrances trying to prevent the other guild/group from entering. And waiting for them to exit with loot.

Of course this was on the PvP servers.

Grand idea, this will also completely ruin thieves who run at champs *not in zerg guilds*. I applaud this idea to the fullest, I am also pretty bad at sarcasm.

When will I ever see a suggestion which includes thieves in a beneficial way from anyone else but a thief...

In regard to champ spawns.. what I would love to see happen is for the 4th scroll that is for only "factioneers".. be a random scroll for anyone.. not just for factioneers... it makes it so easy for someone to ghost the champ spawn - come at the end.. get like a 2k score and get a guaranteed scroll with no work really put into it... like just 30 mins ago at Rikktor .. guy got a 300 score or something and got a scroll .. rofl

You said yourself you like how people fight over champions, however...
If relics/ps drop in your bank no one will fight over the champions.

You're asking us to change the system for the entire server instead of just gaining a few more friends and fighting back like most others do.

That's not fair :(

Is it possible to have the Champions such that a team of reds has to fight their way in at least a little bit into the spawn? Right now you recall right into the middle of it. I know that this discourages latecomers for the events, but to have it to where they have to fight their way into the battle might be a tad more interesting than a magic gate opening up and 5-6 reds coming in and blasting up the party...


This would be similar to a dungeon like Khaldun where you have to fight your way to the end.

Another mechanic could be to potentially allow blues to set traps similar to faction traps at Champions for some cost.


The guild could build defensive measures. I know our guild would spend 20-30k to lay out defensive measures for events like Factions. It is like a mini city that we are trying to protect. The big challenge is that we are already engaged in battle with MOBS which makes it that more difficult. It is like Faction fighting + Monsters + a boss...

We could introduce some sort of defensive system that group A can throw down so that group b or group c etc need to break through , would be a more complicated system, but i like the idea over all.

Maybe something like forfeiture of ALL The gold throughout the champ and possibly some more?

This would also negate one of the largest gold influxes currently on UOF (Champion spawn gold drops)

Without pks (= risk vs. reward) you'd get bored pretty fast. Where's the fun then? I think pvm game is already too easy... from what I've seen with lvl 7 meta pets and relics there isn't a single thing which is hard to kill. Even rda bosses are easy. I'd be just endless risk-free grinding.

All you need to do is be 50 tiles within the champ... It's not bloody hard to be hidden and receive a scroll. My god use your head and stop asking for trammel.

Also if 4 pks take a spawn from 10 of you then you deserve to lose it.

Yes EQMS a is a bit of an overkill. But they are generally gutless and only show face when they have 10 plus online.
