Couple housing questions.

I went here... http://www.uoforum.com/wiki/index/... but didn't see much info. I've never had/used a custom house. I'd set a Villa somewhere, but I want the teleporter doohicky. Sooooo....

If I buy a plot off someone, do I still need that house tool thingy?

If I buy a plot off someone, is the customizing menu pretty straight forward?

Are there other costs? As in gold or resources?

"One house per account"... How I put second toon on house, first toon owns? Or do all 3 have automatic access?

Obviously, I don't know squat about houses. Don't even know what I should ask :p So if there's any other little tidbit, I might wanna know, feel free to tell me :)

OH! One more.... How big a house I need, not to get whacked by earthquake, if I standing in center? I know how scandalous some of these "awesome" pvp players are... *Casually glances towards Jenny Jugs and Hottie*

No need for the house placement tool if you buy a plot off of someone that already has placed a plot.

The house customization tool is pretty cool and allows you to build any house you want on your plot and see it and wipe it out, make changes 20 times if you need to before actually committing to your work. When you commit, there is a price paid that seems to start about about 100k I think even for the smallest plots and goes up based on the size. It will take it right out of your bank for you. Now, later if you want or need to make a change, there is usually at minimum of a 10k charge even for the most minor changes, so try and get it just as you want the first time. Still, it's likely it will take you a few times to get it as you like, it's trial and error... It is fun in my opinion building your custom home with all the options available in the menus.

I don't know what you are asking here. Other then the rather expensive costs of buying the plot and building your custom home (much more expensive then buying a deed-style house of the same size).. there is no other costs if you mean like 'rent' or something. Just make sure you log in with one of your characters and open and close a door at least once a week or so, otherwise you risk it going IDOC (in danger of collapse) and losing it. I actually think it has to go two weeks or more without someone refreshing a door, but better to be safe... so I suggest once a week.

Obviously items inside your home, such as chests, furniture like tables and chairs, forges, anvils, spinning wheels etc have to be bought separately and placed inside. That is additional costs, but I don't think this was your question. I'm guessing you meant other costs such as rental or upkeep costs, and the answer to that question is "no".

One house per account"... How I put second toon on house, first toon owns? Or do all 3 have automatic access?

All of your characters on the account that own the house will have automatic access with co-owner privileges. If you want to add a character from your 2nd account, all you need to do is move them close to the house on one pc, and then use the house sign menu to target them and add them as either a friend or co-owner. If you don't have two PCs, you can simply take your desired access character close to your home, log out and they will still be standing there for a few moments until the game logs them out. Then simply log in any of your house-holding characters to click your house sign, add a co-owner under the access tab (or add a friend) and target the still-not-logged-out character of yours.

How big a house I need, not to get whacked by earthquake, if I standing in center? I know how scandalous some of these "awesome" pvp players are...

I'd suggest nothing smaller then an 8x8, but I hear that you can use a 7x7, but have to be right in the center. Also keep in mind that if you want to leave room on the edges of your plot say for vendors or trees, or a courtyard, then you'd want to buy a bigger plot to allow that needed room on the outside of your walls.

The one thing you need to make sure you do on a custom house to prevent getting PKed while inside is when building it... in the upper left corner of your plot, there will be a small corner piece that needs to be put in there on EVERY level of your home. You'll see this small corner piece when you go into your walls choices, it's thinner and smaller then any of the other walls. That piece HAS to be put in the upper left corner of every level... if it is not placed then it will allow players on the outside to blow you up while inside with ANY damaging spell if they target you correctly (ie energy bolt, flamestrike). I learned that the hard way, hehe.

Anyhow, hope that answers all of your questions.. if you need help you can PM me, or if you have more questions now, simply type them out in your next response!

Good luck! Have Fun!! :)

Yes, the cost of building the house. Each tile that you fill in your house while in customizing mode costs 500gp, which can add up pretty quickly when you are building the house for the first time from scratch. For an example, the cost of my small brit house was about 110k to place. Once placed, I had just a plot with nothing on it. I think spent 250k more to customize it how I wanted.

There is a 10k fee for performing customizations EACH TIME YOU CUSTOMIZE the house. So I would recommend trying to finalize the house as best as possible during your first customization as any modifications to "tweak" the layout later will cost 10k at a minimum.

The house customization tool is NOT straight forward, however with some playing around and some googling, you will catch on to it pretty quickly. The hard part is figuring out how to actually design your house. For this part, you may try running around the world and looking at what other people have done when designing their own houses to get some ideas.

It will stay there unless you put something(like a teleport tile) directly on top of it. If you do that it will be moved to a box that you can access from your house options Gump.
