Was I killed by a staff member?

Here's an interesting question.

Last night I had my character parked in west brit macroing hiding within the guarded zones (as you do) and about half-our in or so I heard my character die from the other room. I went to investigate and saw that I was indeed dead. I checked the journal and saw no references to me being attacked or even seeing any players approach. Confused, and not really having the time to check further into anything I logged off and didn't think anything else of it.

Fast forward to today and I'm walking around some vendors just outside of brit (out of the guarded area) when I'm suddenly struck dead. The kind of struck dead you get when you're killed in town by the guards/powers above for doing something wrong. You know, the bolt of lightening etc.. This was not a lighting strike from another player. I was just dead. No one to report for murder, no notification that I was under attack by anyone or anything like that. I was blue and had not committed any acts that would make me a criminal (not that it matters, I was well outside a guarded area).

Anyone care to shed some light on how this could occur?
