How do I make XP gain to?

Kill things! You will not gain from summons or area spells (e.g. chainlightning, poison fields). Also make sure that you are the only person attacking the mobs. I started out by casting fireball on every animal I came across.

It is pretty painful to start with Try using big spells like e-bolt and flamestrike - More damage, more points!
