Stealing and tracking, a discussion.

So the process of stealing a power scroll in current days game will remove you from your ethy mount, and you will be unable to use another skill for the usual timeout. When this was implemented tracking was much less useful that it is present day. Imo this has set the balance against thieves. It's certainly difficult to get another hide off or cast invis while in foot in the throng of a champ spawn. And if you do, most people champing have a GM tracker for rdas now, 80 tiles is most of a champ spawn. Maybe hide could be allowed to happen directly after stealing skill is used, I'm down with the demount I guess, I imagine it'd be hard to steal off horseback, and this way stealth is still necessary in the template. Opinions? Thoughts?

You can already hide directly after stealing by holding onto the targeting cursor for 10 seconds before targeting the item to steal. This works because the cooldown period starts when the stealing skill is initiated.

As far as the stealth goes, it has actually been nerfed for 0 skill trackers since the dismount/powerscroll change was made. The only consideration is for those that actually have GM tracking... I would probably guess that very few PvMers at champ spawns have room for that skills, which means they are using tracking with zero skill.

How well does 20 tracking skill work now?

The base tracking distance is based off of skill with:

5 Tiles Base (No Skill Required)
.75 tiles per skill point (shown skill)

This means 75 tiles are given for 100 tracking skill plus the 5 base tiles to a total of 80 titles at GM.

A player should never technically have zero tracking skill because shown skill is real skill + stat modifier. So having stats above 0 automatically will give you *some* tracking skill.

All of that said, keep in mind that the success rate is pretty low for a zero-skill player. I do not have the exact numbers to give for the success rate.

Does that mean someone with "zero" tracking may fail to find a stealther or simply that their range is now less?
