My account is still fairly new so I'm still in the "Young Guild" so I see the guild chat. I usually will go help a new player with gold, items, and teach the ins n outs of the game. Spent a good portion of time yesterday teaching one everything from single clickin on things to hunting.

I kinda agree with he giving to much. I help them learn which is priceless. And for gold its usually enough just t get a jump start for regs and such.
Not to mention...if I'm correct each new Young player is given items and gold to start......soOOooo....

Helping out newbies is pretty rewarding. I still remember the name of the guy who gave me 30k about ~15 years ago, as well as the guy who let me use his runebook when I got stranded somewhere.

20k is a nice number for handing out checks, I have found.

Just the right amount to get someone jazzed up without giving too much. Because like Adam said, don't wanna ruin that fresh player smell.
