Passive rare detection??

A walk by compared to let's say a suit of gold armor.
Walk by: Macro/Script detecting item go get!
Legendary Suit of Gold Armor: 20,000 ingots (200,000 goldish) + 10 pieces of ancient armor (Roughly 30 - 35k a piece = 300/350k) = 500k Item that won't sell that that much. With a 66.7% Success Rate

Possibly putting a finding/handling of the "rare" item decreasing/increasing the value of it. Giving Item ID a true use. Durability on that bookcase with books is down to 10 or 100... not gonna get full market price for that

Rare system always seemed like it needed to be fixed to me.

The idea that the item spawns in the exact same location every time just guarantees that only a few select people will know about it since whoever finds it first has a monopoly on the item.

Makes the rare system useless to 99% of the shard.

It could be a programming limitation thing though. Don't know if it's possible to make rares spawns in random locations rather than static locations

i did not read all of this, but i stole 5 new rares this past week, 1 of which the biggest rare hunters all missed!! steal able rares are fine for what they are and do. you cant just hunt rares 1 time. in a given week i spend any where from 7-20+ hours looking for rares, spots i think they might spawn, trading locations with people then having to beat them to it!!! i cant help it that i spent 10 years playing UO and when i see a small little thing out of place, BAM there is my reward for knowing uo in and out :D

EDIT: of my 6 locations i found on my own when the rares first popped, all mine have been stolen by other people, so they do work fine, you have to take the time to hunt everyday. its not a lazy mans game by any means!!

More ideas to throw out there with my previous... have the rares have rare conditions like "Indestructible" so it wouldn't break by use/handling

When spots are on lock-down, you can forget about finding that rare again unless the spot is either traded or the rare hunter goes on break but even the latter is a no go usually as the rare-hunter gives the spot to guild mates or friend. The current system favours the dedicated, be that positive or negatively understood.

also another one of the people who doesnt want it changed as they found rares in the first 48 lol.

guess what i found rares in the first 48 too.

and no one else will ever get what i found.

because i check everyday 10 times a day , until i have a better timer , then use that timer to check less, and keep that item from anyone else having it.

but i still think rares should be random locations with more random timers.

actually, my rares i found was after 2+ weeks. so i just think this is something that requires hard work and dedication to steal a rare. but then again, it seems any time there is a market for something it is brought down with comments like that ^^

oh yea thats cuz this time they added in the rares over a larger duration. still people joining the server now have absolutely no chance unless one of u decides to give them the spots.

its just a fact making in random would give everyone a fair chance even you. if u put in hard work and dedication lol.

anyone saying it wouldnt be a more fair system, is being greedy as fuck. simple as that.

The current system definitely needs to be changed to randomisation. I understand the work included would be quite monumental and even more so (*1)IF each item had a percentage chance to actually spawn in the first place. I feel that barrels and other minor rare's should be fixed locations but other more desirable rare's (weekly, monthly etc) should be rotated around the world to coordinate with their surroundings. Ruined items if possible, could also spawn depending on what happens in their general vicinity, IE slightly increased chanced to spawn if there is combat in the area.

(*1) Instead of having a 100% chance to spawn, depending on the item, change it to something which better reflects the rarity of the item. This would actually increase the value of rare's substantially and also provide a MUCH better rare's market without flooding it with a hundred and one duplicates. With random spawns as well, even a new guy could find an item potentially worth millions on his/her first or second week of playing.

I wish it was so easy in the real world to find rare's, i'd be a billionaire!
