We can have mini metapet relic ( little effect . easier to get ) like:

Reptilian (or other slayer) reistance add up to 25%30%? From thst mob resistenza

Reptilian ( or other slayer) damage . add up 10-15% damage at that slayer classe

More auto cure-heal self relic like 10-20%

More cast freq ( only against mob ) like 10-20%

This kind of relic dont use same slot of othwrs..and they can bemore easy than standard relics to get at champs or minibosses.. Not ruining the game just adding something more to pokemons ;)

I know @Shane has talked about building quests for newer players. There should be a progression of quests building towards the current pie in the sky talismans. Keeping with the theme of sacrificing weapons, have ones for force and power. Kill some mid to upper level monsters and boss. If possible have some qualifiers like solo damage or no cross heal or something.

I know in the realm of UO it is a little difficult making special spawn for quests that aren't crazy hard because they can easily just turn into popular farming spots. Then it becomes hard for someone doing a quest to get a chance to kill that mob. I remember OSI started some type of instanced areas where you had to be part of a group that turned in some special item to get inside. That could be a possibility for solo or limited groups.

But not everyone wants to be tamers ... although this is a Tamer shard as the certainly are the pre nge jedi of the server ..
and still have an untuned sunriders destiny for sale !!

Sorry I didn't read the OP very well. I had the non-tamer/bard relics on the brain and was referring to those for filling in lower tiers to build up to the currently implemented ones. The same principle could apply to the pet ones but I think the current non-meta pets are plenty strong enough to use for attaining the pet relics.
