How long does skin dye last?

Is it based on a time, on a death, is it permanent? Just trying to understand what the actual value is. If it's only a limited time it seems pretty worthless, if it's after a death it seems it'd only be good for a Britain bank bot... if it's permanent, that'd be sweet. Just wondering...

1 week or death. I used a savage dye on my demo/thief lasted the entire week and i actually got a lot of use out of the character during that week watching IDOC's and looting
