House Ankh - Gold Sink

Hi All

After spending 15 minutes running my ghost through the wilds in search of a healer (brand new toon - low healing so getting hurt a lot!) I wondered if it wouldn't be a good idea to allow players to setup res zones at their house.

You could purchase the item for something significant - I'm still getting to grasps with what significant means in this economy so I won't put a figure too it but it should certainly be prohibitive for the average player - and then place it somewhere on the door step of your house/keep.

A wandering ghost player could choose to use the Ankh to res on the spot - but for a fee. This fee should be able to be set by the owner with a minimum of something like 5,000 - but here's the kicker - the first 5000 of the fee goes straight into the ether and out of the economy - and then the player only gets something like 20% of the value of the fee over that (this all might be needlessly complex but you get the idea -an option to a well off but otherwise dead player, one off gold sink, ongoing gold sink plus a revenue source for the original players investment).

I can imagine some fairly hefty fee's for those placed directly outside of dungeons!

Don't get killed.
Or if you do - there's always a moongate where you can go.

Rezzing at your house won't do much good as a young player - since houses cost anywhere from 100k to much higher.
By the time you reach that sum,. you won't need the random healer i guess.

though paying 1 mil for a decorative ankh wouldn't be bad :p

Heh - duly noted on the don't die front.

I long since lost my new player status - this is my sixth toon I'm levelling on the second account. I know I could use moongates with my other account to get back faster but it feels a bit like cheating. I far prefer to just wander and kill what I find - that was my original UO experience and what I enjoy the most - but it does mean I can get hopelessly lost :)

I do know I've been in dungeons before and would have cheerfully paid 10 - 20k to get back quickly to my body (often when I've managed to emergency recall back to my house, only to die to the last tick of the lethal poison my good mate the Silver Serpent hit me with - leaving me outside my house as a ghost. Being able to run to a neighbour and drop 20k works for me - although as above, I know there are plenty of other options. Using another toon on another account just feels a little bit like cheating - but thats just me!!).

A lot of guilds have groups of houses or villages. Why not as a gold sink buy one from Shane or even just apply for one and if Shane places it the cost would be 1k to the player that uses it to rez ?

Good idea! 1k is probably too cheap IMO, and won't make any meaningful difference to the economy. It should be a difficult decision and not something that you do every time without thinking. Still, guild based Ankh's make an awful lot of sense!
