Is it really a 1.5x damage proc every 40 seconds at level 10? That's what i'm reading from the wiki.

It is worse than dispersion in every way. Dispersion is actually the best relic endgame bit gets trumped by shadowy for cost because it's the best for leveling.

Mage relics are kinda meh.
Mage template is best suited for champs and invasions imo, so below are my thoughts based on using a mage at a champ/invasions.
Shadow is decent for mana management but you still need to med too much for it to be as fun as the other options.
Focal is woefully underwhelming
Vivify is a good companion for dispersion because it groups mobs up at champs
Dispersion is the tits, it does a ton of damage when you price on a high circle spell with a slayer and spread the damage to the surrounding mobs. As a result, I find myself spending all my time trying to line up the best dispersions.
