Are you using the package from the UOF website ? (Razor + UO client)?
If so, on the splash screen for Razor, you need to input the server address THERE, login.uoforever.com with a port of ****
Try that.

Eh I dunno bout buying seeds and selling reagents to make money, but an easy way is start slow.
Go North to brit graveyard and kill the undead there. You'll get some ok starting cash, and train at the same time. In fact, if your still [Young], go to the newbie dungeon in front of Brit inn. Same thing only better gains (50% increased gains in dungeons).
Once you think you can handle stronger stuff, look into ettins and ogres. They can be found roaming all over, and you can also find some in Despise, but you will also take the risk of getting pked there..
Same with the dungeon Shame. You can make good money off earth elementals, but it's very risky, being many griefer PK's are there killing tamers.
I'd get a lil cash to get a Runebook, a rune for recalling back to brit, then I'd venture to one of those dungeons, kill a few things and recall out to save your profit.
I can hook you up today if your online around 4 PM EST. I know alot of that may be difficult at first.
