ALL THINGS RDA: Another Portal Tracking Stealth Nerf?

I've never played a game or a server that intentionally withholds basic game mechanics from it's players. I'm not whining about it, they're gonna do what they're gonna do but In my opinion and I can also probably speak for most of the newer players in my guild since we've had this discussin, there should be accurate information with numbers in a wiki. Timers, damage, statistics, drop rates, etc.

People build characters and spend money on things that just get changed or aren't true to the era. (IE leveling a thief mage to find out stealing isnt required for the sigil)

I think it would be beneficial for new players to have a solid wiki to read that doesn't just have a cookie cutter guide but information they can use on their own.

2 cents.
UOF has always held true to the two values of the Ultima series:
  1. Exploration
  2. Risk vs Reward
UOF provides its players the greatness of the UOR mechanics, while providing a modern twist on them. This means that we are not always exactly era-accurate. There are a lot of areas that are completely custom, which means there is not a reference anywhere on the net about the mechanics. While we do release some details regarding our mechanics, we do not release everything. Here is where #1 comes in. We provide players the distinct ability to explore and discover how things work. For many of us, this is what made UO so great *back in the day*. Sure, there are a lot of references that can help to a degree, but UOF keeps a bit of mystery around its mechanics. We encourage all of our players to figure out these things for themselves as they really are more meaningful and rewarding that way.

Looking at this thread, it looks like you guys did a great job of it for this topic.

On the other side of things, we do want to help our players, whether new or veteran. This is why we have this forum and also our Wiki. Between the two, you can pretty much figure out anything of the basic mechanics of UO Forever. Our Wiki is still in its infancy and is growing all the time - there are many items, especially the new content that are on our list of things to add. We also have recently added a progressive patch notes thread to provide more transparency to our player base.

All of these things: updates, expansions, documentation, wiki, and everything else that is put into running this shard takes a ton of effort on a daily basis. We do our best to provide the best UO shard globally to players and so far it has paid off.

What I am getting at here is that UOF is not perfect, but we are continually striving to get there. Some things are not documented for whatever reason (whether on purpose or by accident) and we encourage and empower each of you to bring these to light and discuss it among the community for all to know and read.

Regarding the Wiki, if you have any suggestions on areas that need to be added, please PM me and I will add it to our list of things to work on.
