Rules​

​

• Deadline for submission is December 31st, 11:59PM CST - Anything submitted after the deadline will not be given consideration!!!!
• Post all of your screenshots in the 2024 Christmas Decoration Contest Forum post to submit. Only post contest submissions in this thread. Keep in mind we do NOT judge the pictures. We will be judging your house in person on judgement day. It is recommended that you keep all deco in place until we call the winners.
• One submission per player on each shard. If you play on both Overdrive and UOF, you can submit a house for each shard.
• Post the (X,Y) Coordinates of your house in your post. We will visit each one in person on judgment day. If we can not visit your house, then we can not judge it. Pleeease do NOT submit with sextant coords.
• This is a decoration contest, please include some form of decoration. Creativity with custom housing is nice, but decorations are a must!
• Any entries that are a copy of previous entries, or copied from a website will not be accepted.
• Staff built and/or decorated houses are not eligible for the competition.
• WE WILL BE JUDGING ALL AREAS OF THE HOUSE! Utilize your space to the best of your ability. Yes, even cellars.
• We will only judge actual houses. If you are submitting a house on a private island that allows decoration outside the plot, please note we will only judge based on the house itself.

A Few Tips for Success
Have a theme to your entry. Example: Pirate themed, gingerbread house, Nightmare Before Christmas, Home Alone, ect. You can also choose to tell a story with the decor. Whatever tickles your fancy! Just make sure it’s Christmas related!

Have a story in your submission post. You don’t need to write a New York Times best seller. Just some kind of write up that explains your designs choices.

Use your space wisely! We judge based off of the ENTIRE house. not just one area. If an area seems to be lacking in sections it will hurt your score. The same is true for over doing it. It will hurt your score if it looks like a box of random Christmas deco exploded all over your house. Quantity<Quality

Small details can make a big impact. Creative use of ordinary items in ways not normally used can easily impress the judges.

Deep within the forest to the South of Britain (1566, 2162), there lived an old woman. Long ago in her younger years, she was once a highly respected and sought after baker, catering to the whims of nobility...that was until her attempt to overthrow the monarchy with gluten and tree nuts. Exiled from society and lacking the knowledge and resources to survive, she relied on her culinary skills and constructed the most fantastic house out of her baked goods. She lived here quite peacefully until one fateful day. On this particular day, a couple of inconsiderate, snot-nosed, little brats named Harold and Gretchen, wandered up to her house and began feasting. Outraged by her sudden decrease in property value...and feeling pretty burned-out on sweets, the wretched old woman took the children captive. Long story short, she found that savory meals were just the thing she was missing in her life. Rumors about the adorable house of horrors spread across the countryside. To this day, many have travelled the desolate woods of Britannia to gaze upon wonderland made of sweets. Some travel out of disbelief, wishing to judge the cannibal for themselves. The old woman now loves this time of year, turning her house into a Christmastime spectacle for all to behold. Legend says that she never turns away a guest who wishes to stay for dinner.

This year, I’ve felt very Grinch-like. For the past ten weeks, I’ve been stuck onboard a ship, working through the holiday season and missing my family more than I ever thought possible. The festive cheer that usually fills the air seemed so distant, and I couldn’t help but feel a little Scrooge-like as I watched everyone else celebrating from afar. After that I decided to have a Grinch-Like theme.

As the Grinch stood on the snowy peak of Mount Crumpit, overlooking Whoville, he suddenly felt a change. His heart, once cold and small, began to swell with an unexpected warmth. It grew—first one size, then two, then three—and with it, a deep, overwhelming sense of joy filled him. For the first time, he truly understood the meaning of Christmas. The sounds of the Whos singing below echoed up to him, and in that moment, the Grinch's heart grew so much that it nearly burst, filling him with love and kindness he'd never known before.

Our Front Steps a reminder that Christmas is over, as we wait for Britania Garbage to come and collect our trash.

Our entryway is where we want to be when we end our day, this is where everything we have worked for comes together!

Our present wrapping station still stands as we make our new years plans.

This is our storage area, where even here the Winter Spirit has touched the room!

My daughter Daizie is getting to a certain age now and wanted to cook us brunch on Christmas day, although our plans were cut short by uninvited guests...Let's not mention her choice of reading material...Which she thinks is hilarious.

As you can see our dinner plans were ruined by some uninvited guests, but we are the type that minds our own business, and we figured they must have some things to work out.

While classified as a gambler, he is also the room service and help around the Winter Retreat. When he's not busy helping you relax or prepping the tasks you have set for him, you can catch Bond playing any number of games! Games of chance, luck, and skill. Bond will take on any challenge, for the right amount of gold that is! He claims to have once beat a Vesper poet in chess using the famed, Mongbat's Gambit! And while you may get the craps from being bit by a snake, Bond has a mean hand at Craps and Snake Eyes if you choose to fight him!

Santa's Castle on Marble Island at 1905-2141

Welcome to Santa's Castle where the magic of toy making takes place. Toys are wrapped by Santa's helpers and shipped to children all over the land of Sosaria right from the castle by means of Santa's sleigh. Santa gets loaded at the rooftop bar while his sleigh is filled with presents. While the toys are being made, Santa and Mrs. Claus enjoy the many amenities that the castle provides. There is also a place to purchase a beautiful Christmas tree. Don't forget to take a ride on Santa's train! If you are lucky you will be asked to stay for dinner that is prepared fresh right out of Santa's own kitchen. You will also enjoy the holiday music from the grand piano while dining at the festive holiday table. Don't forget that stockings are hung from the chimney with care! Watch out! Happy Holidays from the Lincoln Mallmorial! Located at 1396, 1974

From the outside, the Lincoln Mallmorial grand library stood as a majestic beacon of holiday spirit. The glow from the top garden and the scent of a grand feast spilled into the night, creating an air of warmth and wonder that welcomed all who approached.

In the heart of a grand library, towering bookshelves adorned with twinkling lights stood as a testament to Christmas joy.

On the next level of the library, a magnificent tree stood even taller. Beneath it, a mountain of presents in vibrant wrappings beckoned to visitors, promising the magic of giving and shared holiday cheer.

In the dining hall, a grand feast stretched across a long table, glowing under candlelight. The desert table emitted a sweet, intoxicating aroma that captivated the senses.

At the top of the library, a serene garden flourished with evergreen shrubs and poinsettias arranged in festive patterns. Elegant fountains sparkled under the winter sky, their gentle streams casting a tranquil rhythm over the quiet celebration.

In the damp, shadowy cellar, members of the Crimson Clause Cult chanted around a jagged, green idol of the Grinch, its eyes glowing faintly in the flickering candlelight. They whispered oaths to spread misery and chaos, vowing to snuff out the joy of Christmas forever.
