Best tamer build

Tamers are for PvM so the above Provo tamer template is the tops.

Right below that I would say archer/tamer:

Taming, lore, vet, magery, med, archery, tactics.

Many people building a tamer temporary gm peacemaking to make it a little easier to tamer some of the aggro tamables. Then once they are GM they drop peace for Provo. It is easy to macro both so it isn't too hard to switch when needed.

I definitely dropped provo/music on my tamer because I was a lot less useful in PvP situations, especially defending myself against a PK. I really like eval/resist.

If you are in the type of guild that recalls in to help each other kill off PK's, or you like defending yourself against PK's in an aggressive fashion, or likes taking the occasional count to get people off your spawn, etc, etc, etc, then you'll find eval/resist rocks it.

I disagree with Bromista that tamers are only for PvM only (in practice, not necessarily in theory). They can be powerhouses out in the field.

Oh tamers are very effective in PvP. But that doesn't make it right.

Kurtis does bring up good points though. You can even drop vet if you plan on using your tamer solely for PvP and have another char be your vet.

Lotta things you can do with tamers but they belong in PvM ;)

Just make it easy on yourself, taming/vet/lore/mage/resist/eval/med

Having no resist or med to be a tamer is kinda lame unless the server turned into Trammel in the week I was gone. If you want to have provoke, find a friend to roll with you. A good tamer is not going to have music/provoke. And lol at Archery...that is for a PURE pvp spec...probably highest damage output in game...75 taming (for a pair of youngs) archery/tactics/anat/resist/heal and throw in a little magery/lore/vet or whatever for the rest. This build is so overpowered, cowardly spineless trammel PKs like Kaz will actually page a staff member because he likes to cry when he dies, and try to claim you were cheating...try it. I think we were averaging a PK paging staff every 45 min or so. It is sad when staff have to warn you about killing people in UO because you are too good and people are crying too much. Alas!

I started as a provo tamer but was getting bored so I switched to Tamer/Archer and I've had a lot more fun with my build since.

It certainly is a little bit more interactive hehe. And even without Anat you still get some awful big hits with slayer bows so very effective.

like some others post here : Taming/ Lore/ Vet/ Magery/ Med/ EvalInt/ Resist is the perfect balance for pvp/pve.

To future tamers, this is what you can expect from owning, levelling and understanding a meta-pet :
