What is this 2x Smelting?

I was reading some other posts, and somebody said something about 2x smelting method... WTF is that?

mmm, I think they're talking about smelting iron having a chance to double smelt. So every time you smelt iron, you have a chance to get double the ingots.

LoL... So it's not a METHOD... its just how Iron Ore smelts out... I thought there was some new tactic .. lol...

Well what I do is divide my ore into piles of 11 before I smelt. I pick "11" simply because it's quick to type. This gives me more chances of doubling my ingots, rather than smelting a whole pile of 150 ore at once and, whoops, only regular amount of ingots and the whole thing is wasted. This helps me clear 1000 ingots per mining trip very easily, in less than 20 mins.

Anyone know if you can get double ingots on anything greater than iron ore? I don't think I have so far, at 105 mining.

Yeah, its just how they work. You will receive a message saying that your skill allowed you to smelt better or something.
