The selling forums need more structure.

The current rules allow repeated spam bumping to take place. A handful of mostly toxic players are abusing seemingly to no end.

Going so far as to not even waiting until their post is even off the front page.

This makes the selling forum full of nonsense troll posts. If the rules remain the same I see little reason why it won't increasingly become a issue with those who use the selling/buying forum sections. We are already see moderation issues on their threads but its not the fault of the players but the one that set the hook. Staff is all but allowing this to happen currently and most likely unknowingly.

I have reported this but it seems like nothing is done, so I am assuming it's okay for everyone? I say that because I keep seeing the same posting behavior repeatly from people like Bobby. If it is indeed within the accepted rules well that forums section will soon get annoying, I assure you.

I thank you for your understanding and your assumed willingness to combat this crap @Bromista

Actually during the egor era a few rules were put in place that are no longer being enforced. 1. Only one thread pet topic. (Don't need two threads to tell us to shop new $ vendor house and another two for Bobby vendor at yew. ) 2. One bump per day.

We really should be going back to enforcing these rules. Although there are some other rules as well that could use enforcing:

- Posts just to post. IBD, First, etc. Except for threads made for people to get their 10 posts to be able to PM.
(Would cut and paste post fall under this category? )

- Incomprehensible posts or posts in ALL CAPS.
(I've seen a fair number of caplock posts including titles)

- Nonsensical posts that have nothing to do with the topic, repetitive diatribes posted to multiple items, off-topic posts that hinder discussion, and responses to those posts.
(Pretty sure that there has been plenty of times a suggestion post has had some weird e peen flexing thrown at it that has nothing to do with the suggestion. )

I know it's a ton of work but more moderation would be great. Some of us have families and would like to introduce the next generation to uo at some point but certainly not while I can't even have them look up stuff on forums without having to deal with all of the crap.

The defense rests.

@Bobby123 should be banned.

this is kinda the way the docks was moved to brit, to make the most popular spot look busy.... why do certain people get to bend the forum rules with shit posts, items that they dont have, "SEND PM" to ME means you want something other than in game gold..... but all of this drama in the buying/selling it shows the server being active. recently someone was forum banned for being toxic.... we all know who is pretty much toxic to the forums and the admins CHOOSE to do nothing.

Who was the toxic forum member recently banned?

Haven't seen much from the Aussie dipshit lately but they aren't banned.

Tech/LHR?

I will be willing to moderate the Selling Forums @Shane @Adam but you probably don't like me currently :(

With that said though I believe everyone would find me to be a very fair mod in respect to rules and how they are enforced. I am kind of a friendly asshole to everyone. I was Army Values Leader of the Year and I have a security clearance actively.... I think moralistically I can handle modding a sub forum but maybe your standards are higher :)

You will never see me selling or buying stuff, due to the fact my trammie days are in the past. I offer it not truly believing Shane or Adam will allow it but surely something has to be done for the betterment of marketplace as its currently being abused by those who are very well known.

This is all taking place meanwhile; Tech has been banned. A meer child has been prevented from expressing himself but some are seemingly allowedto perform what in most people's eyes is way worse.. And unquestionly worse for the shard itself. I speak from a perspective from meer peasant asking why Lord @Adam you chopped our friends head off. Surely this isn't your idea of just and fair punishment in your kingdom is it?

I ask for the removal of Techs ban on the grounds that it is has been unfairly enforced. I would like to move his case to a deferred prosecution in which a common can be meet without the mistakes that emotions allow.

As I said I will not use the selling forums here but I have many years of being a high level trammie on uoforever as experience. It would be foolish to not at least consider my free offer to help out.

There does need to be a dedicated sell thread moderator. Liberty has a lot of other garbage to moderate in his free time, and eppy is busy with adding content and bug fixing. JoeB seems to mostly help with IRC/in game issues (a good thing), and halygon does what he can on the forums.

I wonder if it would be better for a known trader or a non-trader to do this duty. Non-traders have more impartiality I'd imagine, but known traders are quick to identify fake/troll threads that are usually meant to affect the economy in some way. I guess that should be a pros/cons thread in the staff subforum. Either way, the selling subforum needs some TLC.

Banning people is a slippery slope. Ban too many or too few and there are consequences. You wouldn't believe how many posts we delete daily.
