Just saying, but can't you buy a shrine from the dono vendor and place it in any house to have the same res ability? Or am I completely wrong on how the shrine deed works on UOF?

No, they don't res.
Don't quote me on the REASONING being 100%, but I imagine it being a countermeasure against ghosts cruising into people's homes res'ing and hiding and all the subsequent pages that would ensue.
As for making them accessable to owners/friends only, not sure. There are however plenty of wandering healers around.
It's meant as just a decorative piece.

Aw. Well sorry OP, thought if it worked it would help you out with what houses you would buy.

It would be sweet though if they could res and had security like other house items. I would buy one.
