Don't think profile posts are supposed to be private. I can see why it would be a little confusing having two ways to contact someone directly. Perhaps this is something that can be disabled? @Adam @Carl

when i ran yew bank I got alot of profile posts.
it's primarily because these forums say ''start a conversation'' instead of ''send a pm''

Like what @parsnip said. You can see this because Special K posted on @Carl 's profile instead of PMing. In this case, I removed this post from view as it was probably posted in error on the profile.
