Question about "Staff Message"

I was mining in the Minoc cave when I got stolen from. No big deal. But then as I was leaving to deposit what I had left I received "A Staff Message from Peppy. You'd better run". "A Staff Message from Peppy. I'm not kidding". Is this a real staff message or somehow spoofed. Text was white and showed up in the areas that my action messages show up.

If it is genuine is it common for staff to threaten players or is this just a poor joke?

No idea but I often get visits from staff members while mining these days. Something to do with checking you aren't macroing resource gathering unattended. In which case I suggest you run to prove that you are actually reading the messages!

I was already well away from the cave and not mining, I answered back with a question mark it is just odd. So it is a staff message? The person who stole from me had already recalled out of the cave.
