Provoke Nerf?

Tonight i failed to provoke a Balron onto a shadow daemon in Deciet 7times in a row before succeeding. Then a few moments later tried provoking the balron onto a dread spider and failed twice. None were paragons and i was using a Exo slayer.

Wondering if anyone else has noticed the change? Or is it just a string of badluck?

Although provo *should* be nerfed, I seriously doubt they would ever do that. I mean it's not like its a PvP skill or anything.

Skills are 105 Provoke/100 Music, Using an Exorcism slayer.
Maybe it is badluck, or maybe iv'e had extreme good luck in the past with my attempts. I went rarely failing to provoke to failing 7x in a row, and then to fail to provoke a Balron onto dread spider twice just shouldn't happen.

Was more wondering because i hadn't been on much this week and might of missed something.

Anyway today's a new day lets see how this goes.

at 115 + 120, you would be hard pressed to see much of a problem... My guess is that it is due to the 105, mobs, and just some badluck on that specific occasion. 7 times is not that bad (frustrating for sure).

I'm thinking you need to eat and drink, my bard only has 95.4 provo and 100 music and I have no problem provoking shadows in deciet using only a gm instrument not evem slayer

Nothing has been touched with provoke or peacemaking. We did a small change with discord that now makes it a criminal actions. This is the only change to a bard skill in a long while.

~77% chance at that provoke level, so just bad luck. I don't think slayers of any kind effect balrons, either.

Pretty sure exorcism works on balrons.

But iirc aren't there different calculations based on which spawn is provoked onto the other?

For example: if you provoke a balron onto a dread with an exorcism instrument you get a bonus from the slayer. If you provoke the dread onto the balron with an exorcism you get a 20% reduction because you would need arachnid doom/spider slayer to get the bonus on the spawn that the provoke is initiated on?

Could be your problem in this situation.

Yeah, the mob you click on first is the one the instrument bonus will work against. Instruments work differently than slayer weapons. You get a 20% skill boost when the calculations are done to whether you're successful in barding the mob (aka adds 20 points to your skill). Against a mob that doesn't fit the slayer type (but not in the opposing group) your slayer instrument just turns into something equivalent to a NPC instrument, or if it is exceptional, a GM instrument. If however you are using it against an opposing mob type, then it gives -20% to your barding chance (aka -20 to your bard skill).

To the original poster, i'm also 105, and lately my fails (especially on shadow demons/balron in deceit) have risen dramatically. Before i rarely failed, last few days, it's been RUN FOR YOUR LIFE moments cause of fails.

I think you guys problem is that you aren't using Gankware LLC brand instruments...
