I'm sure the title just attracted every Tamer and they want to kill me now. 
The pets I am referencing are the beginning ones. Is there anything that can be tamed that doesn't act like a meat shield before you can get dragons. I got myself two scorpions and an ogre beat one of them senseless before they had hardly taken a notch of health.
I'm not looking to tame something in the begin and so kill and they do all the dirty work but something that will at least contribute a little bit to the cause. I'm at 68 (60 real) ish taming so any advice on something to tame that will make hunting less expensive.
Right now I just use bears because they are at least some what tough meat shields.
Last thing when taming does it go off my real stats or my offset stats as far as the level of animal I can tame. For example I can tame something requires 60 taming but with a 68 taming chance. Or does the offset determine both the level of animal and chance?
