Permagrey Question..

On my thief I stole from someone earlier tonight. He started attacking me and I ran, and I ultimately got away safely. An hour passed, and in that time I died (I thought this reset permagrey?). However, the next time he saw me, he attacked me again and he wasn't flagged as crim... I hadn't stolen since I res'd so I thought the permagrey would reset.. how does it work? Everything I've read says permagrey expires when you die. Apparently not..!

Is it dependent on how you are killed? I died from a guard whack after trying to steal from an NPC. It's literally been 2 hours since I stole from this guy and I've died 3-4 times since then, but he is still attacking me each time he sees me with no penalty. I officially am lost on permagrey technicalities.

I hear that if an NPC called the guards (henced killed by NPC), then you will remain perma grey until a player kills you. But I have never tested this out.

Just run up to him naked, nothing in your pack except a rune named with a funny but appropriate message. Let him kill you while you do funny emotes.

It may work to die in other ways but that is the method I have always used and it has never not worked.

In the past, I always just killed myself with my other character in my house.

That way they think you are still perma grey and if they attack you in town -- boom guards.

Gwhack doesn't clear perma..
