People returning to UO and Parrying

Drop it. It's not worth the 100 points.
I've recruited a ton of people returning to uo and they're all adamant on keeping parry. What you guys don't realize is; the idea for pvm is to NOT have the monster aggro you. That's why tamers and provokers are so popular.
Parrying is great for earth elementals and ogres/ettins. Beyond that, you really don't want to be toe to toe vs. anything in Ultima Online. At least not without 2-3 friends who are amazing cross healers. With or without parrying, going toe to toe against a paragon shadow wyrm, you're going to die.
I've been talking to this one guy trying to give him template ideas and he's insistent on tweaking them. He's dropped Resist Spells and tactics on his archer/provoker for Discordance and Peacemaking and it just doesn't make sense to me. We all enjoy testing the game though so I just caved on giving advice and let him test things for himself.
Anyways, a bit of a rant here but I just wanted to post about parrying here on forums so other veterans can weigh in and help the new players realize how much of a waste it is.

just curious memory tells me that 2 handed axe's can act as a shield and qualify for parry ..
But yeah I agree Parry is relatively useless for standard day to day stuff

However if you plan on playing with a group that heals you and you act as front line mob "Looter / tank" Parry would be very useful in this situation.

Most Dangerous mobs however use spells to do there main damage , so instead of parry invest in resist .. but again if you plan on being the "looter / tank" invest in both, but don't plan on successful solo outings . The best defense is a relentless offence mobs cant kill you if you kill them first.

Two handed weapons counted as a shield are apart of a different expansion that includes bushido skill
