Non- faction trapped box

I made a non-faction explosive trapped box. I had the key in my crafter's backpack. Crate on the floor. Once I successfully applied the trap, I got a system message saying the trap is disable until I lock the box to enable it. So I had another toon to open the box on the floor and boom! My toon was instant killed!

Why? Thanks!

Note: I did not lock the crate after the trap was applied.

This is what we found. I'm suspecting the same set of code works differently towards two scenarios

Scenario 1
Crafter makes a new lockable crate
Put key inside the crate
Put crate on the floor
Trap the crate
Anyone can open the crate without dying
Lock the crate and the trap is officially enabled


Scenario 2
A thief opens a trapped crate from a player backpack
Thief dies and the crate is no longer trapped.
Crafter tries to re-trap this "old" crate
Put key inside the crate
Put crate on the floor
Trap it
Open the crate, crafter dies
Note: crafter did not lock the crate to enable the trap before opened the crate but still died

See the different behaviors between newly created crate and "old" crate?

Yes, I know this issue. But I'm wondering about another thing. If my toon get PK'd, the reds take out the boombox and open it with telekinese. How they do it? All the time I like to move the crate from my dead body with another account, the box exploded only from clicking an moving, not opening.

Question: Do u have auto search container option enabled? In razor, I believe there's only one option for all types of container. In steam, you can disable specific type of container.
