No elves on UO Forever?

Just verifying, the game says no elves are allowed on the server. But gargoyles are? Don't want to waste one of my character slots trying it out.

Any reason why not? Are they hated by the community for some reason? It seems to me they would be cool to have.

You can't play with gargoyle.

This is a UO:R based server.

I say based and not something like "replica" because we have a LOT of extra content.

But other races are not one of them.

Why would you want elves? All they do is whine about trees and then get burned to death in a river of magma that mysteriously appeared out of a mountainside
