newb boots and now rare colors?

So I just overheard something that I'm guessing was supposed to be hush hush, because that's what they said to each other while I was watching....

But, apparently newbie boots can now no longer be dyed with the leather dye tub... so the colors that cant be dyed with now became rare..

Anyone else have any thoughts?

No idea, but rare is not the same as desirable.
