Murderer corpse carving rules

So what are the rules for being able to carve murderer corpses?

From what I understand, you can't carve a red corpse in town, and you can't carve it if they are in factions and other factioners attack them before they die.

But I just killed someone 1 v 1 outside of town and I couldn't carve the corpse. He was not in factions and no one else even attacked him (and my char isn't in factions).

So da fuq? These rules are pretty fucking stupid. I feel like reds basically have no punishment since you can't ever carve their corpse.

On a somewhat related note, can you heal murderers in town now? I remember you would get guard whacked befoe but the other day I saw some eqms healing each other in town and not getting guard whacked. What gives? Is it cause they are in factions?

Faction reds can heal each other in town. No cut zone west of Brit. Next time try pulling him away until you see a system message in bottom left "You have left a region known to be frequented by scoundrels and murderers." Then you can cut.

Interesting. I did not know this. I've only been guardwhacked on a blue before attempting to rez a red lol.
