Im close to finishing my brood relic now, is it a bad idea to put it onto my new spider before I hit level 6 or max level? how much XP does it eat up? and will it take months longer to level if i do?

Depends. If you don't have a constant stream of mobs you will lose xp but with a constant stream you actually gain quicker.
Brood increases your spiders damage plus adds damage from the broodings. You don't Gaon xp from the broodings so you lose potential xp but are actually gaining more xp per sec while the mob is alive.
Tldr. Fighting a mob you have to wait for respawn brood is bad. Fighting mobs where you mostly have one to kill no matter how fast your going brood is good. Fighting paragon where the mob regains as much hp as the brood takes away during the fight brood is great.

Definitely put it on, spider hits for 100+ with max brood

Dessicate>Brood>Carapace>Necrosis in the order you wanna put relics on. seems with spider you wanna get those relics on as fast as you can.
