There's a lot of donation items that sound cool, but I'd never buy them because I have no idea what they look like. I know some items are pretty impossible to show in game without placing them inside a house, but you could at least have a link to a webpage with a screenshot.
Another idea, make it possible to "try on" an item. Maybe you could single click a wearable item that is not in your pack and one of the options is "Try On" and it will let you wear it for 5 seconds, just to see what it looks like and skill effects.
