lumberjacking and bowcraft

Lumberjacking and bowcraft, one of the most difficult to train and so unnecessary craft skills here

what minimum mining skill need to produce non-ferrous metal? in Lumberjacking train to 90 was not produced any colored wood
- thats normal?
+ maybe add to the game a little chance to receive a unique item (house decoration or rare hatchet\pickaxe) when mining ore or wood chopping

when I extract ore in the mine, an hour digging any monster not attacked me, when chopping wood every 15 minutes snakes appear at a distance of bite) and immediately poison.
- it would be better if the snake appeared in the distance near 5 tiles

BowCraft Skill - useless! is more easier to get the bow from a monster
(need spend a lot of forest resources to pump skill, and then another to spend time on the production of onions)
- unlike other craft skills - a small selection of useful products\items to create:(

Mining works differently than lumberjacking in regards to the skill level it takes to get colored woods and ores. You must invest in power scrolls to get colored woods with lumberjacking, although you do get them sometimes without power scrolls from the snakes. The power scrolls used with mining only increase the chance to get a double smelt on your recycled armors and weapons, and has nothing to do with improving the process of harvesting ore.

I use a lumberjack dexxer to harvest wood, and the snakes are not a problem. Slayer axes of snakes bane work good.

Bowcraft is far from useless. It is more easier to get the bows from bowcraft with the right macros. You also have the ability to craft the best bows in the game with this skill using the special wood you get from the power scrolls. I do not care at all if I lose a good slayer bow , because I have a lot of wood and a lot of bows now that I have the Bowcraft skill. I see these bows sell for more than 10k on vendors. If you run a vendor, finding the bows in chests and on monsters is not that great of an option if you intend to have your vendor restocked often.

Bowcraft only has a small selection of useful items to create because that is exactly what the skill is. You craft bows with it and not much else.

Bowcraft - player crafted Exceptional bows have about 30% increased damage over NPC purchased bows or common bows found on MOBs.
- Player crafted slayer bows are a great market to get into.
- Player crafted magic "new wood" bows is new, and another great market to get into. Being able to craft a Exceptional Force bow with relatively little effort is AWESOME. Keep in mind, for a smith, this would require a Gold Runic hammer or better, which are very difficult to come by.

Lumberjack - this skill was "upgraded" recently with the new wood. The dev team chose to make the new wood a GM+ item, making it something to work toward. There were many other things that went into this decision, and I think they made the best choice. Colored ingots were a core of UO, so that was in from the start in the traditional form.
- Lumberjack is also a useful skill for a dexxer, if you fight with an axe (double use skill)
- The snake spawn was put in to prevent AFK lumberjacking (which is banned) after the implementation of the new wood. It is a great idea, and keeps you on your toes. It also gives everyone "a chance" to get the new woods without being at 120 skill.

Actually, higher mining skill allows you to mine up more colored ores than otherwise, in addition it allows you to smelt them better and receive more ingots due to double smelting or from not failing to smelt into ingots.

I typically wear +5 ringmail gloves of mining when I mine to get that extra edge.

Didn't know that, obv. Thanks.

I haven't yet gotten into mining after almost dying of boredom when getting my LJ skill up to 100. If I ever force myself into doing it, I hope it goes up a bit faster than LJ.

Edit: You can also raise LJ by training it on another player or monsters, but I needed the wood so I got it by chopping trees.
