Item decay timer

How many minutes does it take for an item to decay if I drop it onto the ground? Is the timer the same in houses / dungeons / caves / wilderness?

I too would like to know this information, does anybody have any idea? I just want to know if i have a box in my house not locked down or secure, how long will it take to decay naturally?

I believe an item will be deleted on the second world save after it is dropped on the ground (or any tile where items will disintegrate).

Hence to maximize the length of time you have, simply drop the items right after a world save.

Not sure the rate on worldsaves right now, seems like 30 mins or so though. So max time would be 60 mins basically. It's a decent chunk of time, should be able to get the job done.
