Instruments, Slayer properties, and durability

Hello,

I've found several silver instruments and I have a couple questions:
1) Do instruments in general have durability? Can I keep provocating with the same one forever or will it break eventually?
2) Is the answer to #1 modified by the instrument have a slayer property?
4) What does the silver part of a silver instrument actually do? Do my provocated monsters do more damage because it was silver? Do I have an easier chance against the intended monster type?

1 - yes they have a durability and can break

2 - no not modified...each is semi random

3 - silver property has a higher chance of success against undead, repond against titans and ogres and such, reptilian against dragons, etc...
