For Sale threads.

Make them easier for the seller to use, and make them more community friendly.

Give the ability to the poster of the thread to delete it once the item(s) have sold. (or allow for more post modifications.....changing titles, perhaps..?)
Original sale post lasts 4 days. Dont sell by 4 it gets deleted, the OP gets a msg saying so, and has to make another thread.
(this eliminates the endless bumps by deleting old threads, and helping the OP get more constant exposure by having a fresh post every 4 days)

Much love for those sellers out there, but, its getting hard to wade through all of it. I think it might even be hindering sales more than helping.

Just some thoughts.

Yeah between this stuff

and @Bobby123 using the selling forum to mercilessly troll people (I think it's funnyish) it is getting to be a bit too much noise and not enough signal.

@Skye Wolfbane @halygon I'd imagine this has come up before, any ideas? It would be nice if the community could police itself but it seems to be going in the distinctly opposite direction.

My only suggestion would be to make me Lord God and Ruler of the Selling Forum and give me 100% un checked unilateral power to ban, edit, price fix, coerce, intimidate, hold hostage and confiscate any and all posts, accounts or property (not limited to virtual items).

yeah yeah, man. NOTHING but pure love for the movers and shakers out there.
They, we, just need a better, more efficient way to do work.

I want to buy a ton of yalls shit, but, its too damn hard to (easily) track threads. And most of the time, the items are sold.

nerf the sale section. LOL. We ***** about anything, dont we?

lol

You can already change titles. Deleting threads is a very bad idea. To price check items, it is a simple search. If you delete threads then you can no longer price check. It's actually very frustrating when people edit their threads because you don't know what the item is and or know how much it sold for.

I'm pretty surprised the forum mods allow those annoying egor threads where he's selling the same item in multiple threads but if the mods arnt going to enforce anything then there's nothing that can be done. @Skye Wolfbane

all great points. (thanks for the clarification, too.)

Maybe we can limit the spam at brit bank, by making a brit bank vendor rune bank?
vendors can leave runes to their shops. Brit Rune books arranged according to resources, rares, deco, weapons, etc.......? Maybe intro a rating system where we leave "stars" and such.......keeps things well stocked and competitive but stable pricing

This way, vendors get the marketing, and buyers, who know what they want can go right to a runebook and perhaps have some choices?

moongates are cool n convenient and all but how many of you eat SPAM as more than a novelty?

All great points hubcap but that should be its own thread. Brit bank is a joke with the spam and something needs to be done there.

I quote that flick ALL the time at work.

Especially the "you KNOW I cant handle a CAGE, man!" line at the end, when Johnny Utah "Let's em GO!"

This thread is a good example of how a thread can go off topic very quickly...lol

However, I did ask the powers that be if we wanted to limit the number of Bumps and posts and was told no.

So at this point, there's not much that can be done about it.

The issue at the bank, just use ignore. I agree it wouldn't hurt to at least limit the number of lines but there are bigger issues the admins are dealing with.

Those are all band aid solutions. A new player who might not know how to use ignore and lags out at WBB is unhealthy for the server. The close minded solutions are very poor, thought needs to be put in from all perspectives. New player, 1month player, 2 year player.

The powers are wrong :)

i feel like we used to do a pretty good job of managing people like egor and barracoon before the recent changes to the rules, i think those changes need to be lightened up a lot, you should not get a ban for telling someone they are selling their shit for too much. or for telling them to stop spamming forums, it really gets annoying and there is nothing that can be done cause anyone trying to help gets banned hammered.

Because people troll people's threads Messremb just to troll. Why should that be ok? If someone wants to overprice something, that should be their right to do so. There's rules posted. So you want more control but less control? That makes no sense.

They have every right to do so but at the same time, making a thread like that is essentially being s troll.

I understand what you are saying and agree with some points. It's a hard gray area but shrugging shoulders and saying "nothing can be done" is not a solution.

i never anything about control.

yes there are people who troll just to troll, so ban those people. right now the only people getting banned are anyone stepping up to tell the trolls to STFU. also there is a huge difference from trolling and calling someone out. and the community as a whole does a good job letting you know the difference. people want to post items for a high price, then they better expect people are going to call them out on it. somone wants to post same item in multiple threads, those threads should be deleted, someone wants to bump their post 10 times a day, give us an ignore option.

solutions are out there, simply saying "anyone has free freedom to sell any item as many times as they want for whatever price and nobody can say anything about it" is the opposite of helping.

An ignore option is the only realistic idea I have seen in this thread. It's crazy to expect the mods to exert that much control over what people post.

It's the Internet. Ignore the trolls.
