Dungeon / Out of Town Thug Thief Template Helf

Neophyte
Could really use some help. I've been working on a template for a viable Thug Thief that can be played solo out of town and in dungeons as a sort of general thief adventurer that has some chops for PVP combat, but isn't dedicated to solely to PVP like an arena fighter would be. I never played a thief back in the day and remember that these Thug Thieves were pretty strong, but that might have just been before everyone got hit to the idea of dispersing and protecting their regents, arrows, and weapons -- so I'm not sure how viable this is today where everyone is a veteran for the most part on UOFOREVER.

CURRENT / PROPOSED***

100 Stealing
100 Snooping / 90***
  • considered dropping to 95 Stealing / 95 Snooping to balance this out if 90 snooping is a big problem. I assume it just makes your more noticable when stealing and perhaps I will fail opening a backpack or pouch, but with macros shouldn't be a big deal to use last object again.
100 Fencing
100 Tactics
80 Anatomy
80 Hiding
  • i know this is usually GM for a thief, but since I'm a uoforever I was willing to drop this to 80.
75 Healing / 80***
  • Would like more healing, but not a lot of room for it. 80 is about the max I can afford. Could get some back from lowering Stealing/Snooping even more.
65 Resisting Spells / 70***
  • don't enjoy town thieving much so I've opted to raise this up to 70 as was suggested to be able to absorb magic dumps from NPCs and Players when out of town -- without it life is VERY hard

Any glaring problems or oversights with what I've outlined?

Thanks for any input!

Hi Mate

My thief is my second favorite toon - and from the verbal feedback I've had certainly more hated than my PK!

I guess you just need to be clear about what you're trying to achieve! If you want the ability to defend yourself against other players who take exception to you snooping/stealing - then this would more than work (and you could probably even shave a bit more off the snooping and throw it at resist or healing. I think I run with around 65 and it's only a minor inconvenience). You wont be able to move while hiding without stealth, so hiding will only be for afk toons or escaping. Also without stealth does it matter so much what your snooping is, as long as it works most of the time?

You can't steal with anything in your hands, so you'll need an equip macro to fight back. You also can't initiate combat - you get kicked out of the thieves guild with a murder count (well, suspended).

My personal preference was to go for arms lore and wresting instead of tactics and fencing, and I have stealth instead of anat, so I can do the more traditional disarm steal.
