I like to jokingly go into discord and convince people it's double XP just to be an ass, but in doing so we've had some decent suggestions come up that I figured I'd post about.

Before I start, the reason behind this is NOT simply a moral boost. I know 3 people who recently started new characters or tried new things in UOF solely based on the last double XP weekend. I personally never thought I would attempt to level a meta pet, but due to the double XP I tried it and actually enjoy it. One other in our group started a Meta Dexxer and is enjoying it, and lastly a player who had no intentions of starting a tamer is not in the 90s due to the bump he got during the double XP weekend. If we keep people engaged and trying new things, we keep people playing. Without players, the game we all enjoy goes away. Also people trying new things tend to grief slightly less.

Issue: Double XP - Not necessary but may help moral and/or promote new play styles

Solution (a): Create a rotating schedule of double XP windows throughout the month. Recommend no more than 2-4 hour block of double XP per week. Preferably always on weekend, however the window will be different each weak to allow EU, AUS, US, Asian players to all participate. Limiting this to 2-4 hours a week does not drastically escalate skill gain or xp gain to the extend that it ruins the server or economy. This is the equivalent of playing 4 hours instead of 2 that particular day.

Concern: By using windows, some will always miss more than others and will no doubt complain. Also by using windows you may see heavy PK / Grief tactics during the windows.

Solution (b): Develop a system that allows each unique ACCOUNT (NOT CHARACTER) to activate double skill/meta XP for a 2-4 hour period of their choosing. This system would restart every Sunday at midnight (server time). These hours do not roll over and once activated must be used at once.

Concern: Requires a new system to be introduced and will be time consuming for staff to develop. Some will say this is "trammy" and is ruining the server. I will continue to rebuttal, this is literally the equivalent of playing a few extra hours each week, I am not advocating for double XP weekends or days.

This is equivalent to the suggestion of a power hour for the first login of the day preferably in prime time. It would be cool to have a designated weekend block that would pique the interest of people looking for a populated server while at the same time intriguing current players to try new stuff they never thought they would have time to do.

This may help spur the economy and spike prices for relics as double xp gain may push people to grind those levels when they normally would avoid the arduous task

Shane said they would do more "double" events in the future. Mostly because the server was still really unstable when the last one was implemented.

But that's as far as that went and you know how it goes...see you in 2017 double XP.

Skills, tali, and pet exp are easy enough to gain already.

Everyone plays a 7x GM because it takes no time to make one.
Almost everyone who buys a pet egg gets it to lvl 7. Those who don't normally can't afford the 120 PS, which isn't an issue with the exp rate.
The only overly time consuming part about a tali is the relics, but they're talking about reworking the skill gain rate on those anyway.

Talis and meta pets were, in part, introduced because some people like to grind up something that not everyone has. Making them any easier to max out than they already are would just defeat their purpose.

Definite no here.
