Donations & Forever Coins, whats the deal?

I'd like to donate, and when I clicked the link, I realized that I would receive Forever Coins for a donation.

What are Forever Coins, what do they do, and are they valuable in game??

I've read some posts about people selling 1000 Forever Coins for 125k gold, is this the case?

While my initial intent was to donate, I sure wouldn't mind a little boost in gold to get my account rolling. When I played in 2000, you could go to eBay and buy accounts, houses, gold...it really ended up taking the fun out of the whole game, and I think it totally screwed the overall economy of the game.

So far I really like how UOForever is set up, and I think I'm obligated to donate to something I used to have to pay for. I'm only a week into UOF, and it's already worth a donation and then some.

So, that being said, what can I do with Forever Coins, and how can I unload them for gold?

basically you can donate for the coins, then sell them to players for gold, just as you suspected.
They are used to purchase items from one of the three npc located in front of the west brit bank. Items such as special hued masks and ethereal mounts. Lots of deco items too.
