Can you put Meta Pet Tailsman on Non-Meta Pets?

Can you put Meta Pet Relics on Non-Meta Pets?
I am just coming back to the shard and I am not quite sure how these things work yet.

Meta pet relics are only for meta pets, not tamed animals.

Furthermore, meta talismans are not associated with meta pets. Info on the meta talismans can be found here, in this shameless self promotion.

Meta pets are spawned from a meta egg rather than trammed. Once they have reached the appreciate level, and you have attached a Meta Stone to them, you can apply a relic. More info on meta pets can be found here for dragons and here for steeds.
