I have a guy that I want to turn into a Treasure Hunter.
I have many questions though:
1. What skills do I need to build?
2. Is there a way to read the maps better than just the view you get by clicking on them?
3. Any tips on how to do treasure hunting well?

Hello and welcome to treasure hunting. Here is my current treasure hunter provoker build:

70 Cartography
30 Evaluating Intelligence
100 Hiding
100 Lockpicking
100 Magery
100 Meditation
100 Musicianship
100 Provocation

As far as seeing maps better in-game, there is not a better way. I generally match it to the map at the link below by sight and then narrow down which location it is. Then I use preset rune books that align to the number and recall and dig

a davies locker will yell you the map spot if you place a map inside. Much easier, but expensive
