Alchemy and Poisoning

Is there any benefit to having the Alchemy skill on your mele poisoner? Meaning, does having the alchemy skill enhance the use of potions such as heals, buffs, or explosions?

I am considering having alchemy in place of magery on my assassin template.

Alchemy only enhances the damage of Explosion Potions - which is a big deal if you plan on throwing explosion potions.
