I think we can all agree that the invasion events that the staff create are a good thing for the shard as it gives people a break from the normal grinds many PVE people go through. However while these events go on, dungeons and overland spawn empty because only a fool wouldnt want to stay in town, farm not only for event score but also farm under protection of the guards. While it is no doubt a nice break for many of the PVErs who no longer have to worry about being PKd while farming, it does create a void for those who enjoy the risk that only UO provides, even during PVE.
My solution to this is to add a small area of the invasion event that has increased mob drops(gold, special items) as well as a multiplier on the score in this area(maybe 1.5x the points accrued). However, with increased reward in this small area would come increased risk -- anyone who enters this area is automatically turned gray(not criminal) like in bucs den and thus would have to be willing to accept PVP here.
This area would probably be the PVP hotspot of the shard for a week as I'm sure we'd see both big and small guilds alike battling for control of the area. The nice part about this solution vs. the previous solution of just turning off guards is that it still allows people who want to purely PVE and not PVP during this event to continue doing so -- it just adds an extra incentive and reward to those who are willing to risk some PVP during the event.
