Rules
  1. Deadline is January 9th, before midnight 11:59PM CST - Anything submitted after the deadline will not be given consideration!!!!
  2. Post only your submissions in this thread! Post your screenshots in this thread only. This thread is for Forever contest submissions only. If your house is on Overdrive, then please post your submission in the designated thread for the Overdrive Christmas Decoration Competition. If you would like to discuss other players houses, you are free to do so outside this thread. Please be respectful.
  3. One House per Player (per server): You may submit one house on Ultima Online Forever and one house on Ultima Online Overdrive. That means if you play both servers, you can enter both contests with separate designs. No side-by-side houses or sneaky extras! We will only judge within the four corners of your plot.
  4. Coordinates Required: Include your house’s (X,Y) coordinates in your post so judges can visit in person. If we cannot access your house, we cannot judge it. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do NOT use a sextant to get your coordinates. Use the provided map, with the coordinates in the upper left corner. Coord example (1111,1111). If your house is inside of an instance please provide the owners name.
  5. Holiday Required: Your house can have any Christmas/Holiday theme (gingerbread house, Santa's Workshop, Home Alone, etc.), but it must include some form of Christmas/Holiday decoration.
  6. Original Work Only: Do not recycle old contest entries, copy designs from the web, or enter staff-created builds. Houses must be completely player-built and decorated. Players are free to work as a team, the rewards will be locked down in the winning houses.
  7. We Judge Everything: Every floor and every corner will be judged. Make the most of your space! This includes your cellar! If you own an upgraded island, only the house portion will be judged.
A Few Tips for Success

Have a Theme or Story: A clear theme or story makes your entry memorable. This also gives judges insight to your design choices. It can change a judges thoughts from "why would they put that here?!" to "Oh, that's why, then that's pretty cool."

Balance is Key: More is not always better. If your house looks like Santa got drunk and vomited yuletide deco everywhere, your score will suffer. Likewise, empty or ignored areas will drag you down. You should strive to have a thoughtfully decorated area, that looks neither too busy of empty.

Attention to Detail: Sometimes the smallest touches are the coolest. Clever use of ordinary items in unexpected ways can really impress the judges.

A Note on Screenshots: We are not judging based on screenshots. The real judging will only take place in person when staff visit your house for inspection. Screenshots are mainly for other players to enjoy and to help staff confirm we are at the correct location. If you’re holding back submitting because you want your screenshots to look pristine, don’t risk missing the deadline. It’s always better to post what you have than to be late. (Late = Disqualified)

Don't be so hasty to clean up after Christmas: Please also keep your houses fully decorated until winners are announced, as judges will be visiting them after the submission deadline.

Good luck to all who enters! We look forward to seeing your hard work!

Welcome to Frozen Tide Trading Post, the last port before the Northern Winds. Built where snow meets sea, this once-bustling trade post is now trapped in an eternal winter.

Santa was supposed to dock here at midnight, delivering gifts across the realm.
But these days… there is No Safe Harbor.

  • The docks whisper with frozen tide magic where sleigh boats drift beside cargo ships.
  • A crystal spire watches like an icebound lighthouse, beckoning or warning travelers.
  • The workers still decorate for the season, clinging to the warmth of hearth fires against the creeping chill.
  • Market stalls glow with cheer, yet frost encroaches on every barrel, every bell.
  • Even the holiday feast sits half eaten… as if abandoned in haste.
Whispers tell of an approaching doom, far off the to the Western Horizon Sky, you can see a storm coming… hiding something… impending doom, an army of Gargoyles.

I present to you Santa's Cottage.
The coordinates (1936, 2077)
Doors are open to all. Feel free to visit and enjoy the cottage in person.

This quiet island is home to Santa’s cottage, a place stitched together from stone, timber, and holiday magic. The rooms are warm and busy, tables crowded with drinks and lists arranged as if they were thrown around.

On the cottages property lays Santa’s workshop. In here Santa takes sips of his beer while tightening the worn leather of a reindeer bridle, the smell of hay and pine thick in the air. He hummed as he worked, enjoying the simple peace of mending gear by hand.

In the corner of the bedroom, Santa finds himself in a wooden stockade as Mrs. Claus stood nearby with a naughty smile. It was their private little game, Santa pretending to be caught for sneaking extra cookies and milk. Mrs. Claus begins to spank him with the reindeer reins as Santa screams out, I'm am dirty HoHoHo.

In the basement, where elfs are hard at work, long stone tables displayed odd wonders, enchanted trinkets, half finished gifts. Having their own wrapping station down here is handy. After all this hard work the elfs enjoy some good relaxing yoga.

A link for all the photos in one place.
