Whats funny is that almost everyone else in this thread has said the game mechanics are fine, even if the tactics are lame. The main draw of a fel ruleset server is the risk versus reward factor adding to the excitement, allowing for the chance of other players affecting your gameplay experience...
If this isn't your first exposure to champ spawn then you should realize that the chance of pvp is one of the biggest draws of champs spawns. You used to need large guilds to complete champs and have reds to defend, as you would most likely be raided by other skilled guilds. As stated above...
Just kill evil mages, they die in one second and drop skill scrolls often. Probably should be nerfed, but I know people who have got over 3 taming SS in a day doing those.
You've always been able to lure champs, why change it now? I'd hate to see what happens if you saw a t2a champ lured onto a boat, which is common on servers where the facet is open. You'd probably write a letter to congress or something.
The last couple of days I have started experiencing something strange when moving around on my characters. Every once in awhile my character will seemingly hit a wall and stop for a second. Its not like any lag I've ever experienced in UO, and at first I thought i was just bumping into hidden...
